Perfect! I will be switching to them Micron Pens ASAP, since it's really refreshing to see my past sketches inked - can't wait!

Woaw, the ballpoint at the end completely really elevated the drawing to a whole other level! Truly fantastic.

Back in high school in the late '70s I'd do some MAD-like parodies in Mort Drucker style, using the Bic pens on cheap pad paper, and, indeed, the variety of line thicknesses were very helpful in doing those. Nowadays (in which I'm currently between web comics), I love using Pigma micron pens. Their #49 brush pens are harder to gain control sometimes, but the same brand brush pen in FB and BB sizes work perfect for me. It probably helps that I use those on bristol paper (smooth surface), but often on card stock as well.

This is one of my favorite videos that you've made. I like seeing all the differences of brush, micron, brush pen, nib, and ball point on the paper! It really made it clear what does or doesn't bleed on regular printer paper. Every time I watch your lesson, it makes me want to make more art. Thanks Terry!

Funny that you enjoy Microns because they don't bleed. I work a lot with pens and watercolors, and I find that Microns tend to bleed/blur a little bit when you add water. I use Uni Pin or Staedler instead - those are really waterproof. But yes, Microns are pretty good for dry drawings. :)

I really enjoyed watching you ink sir! I was just planning on seeing a quick example of each tool before moving on to some other stuff I wanted to research, but your inking and voice just really drew me in.

Thanks so much for this video it was brilliant - I normally use G-Pen nib, Copic Multiliner, Fudenosuke brush pen on Canson Imagine Mixed Media 200gsm paper (really nice texture) though have never thought to use a bic pen (though also used to use these when learning to draw).

Was that brush pen you used a felt tip? I've been using a synthetic brush pen which uses actual hairs. If you look up the Pentel Brush Pens on Amazon or Jet Pens, I highly recommend looking into them. Very specifically I'd recommend the one labeled 'pocket brush pen.' The other one, the Fude Brush pen, requires you to squeeze the pen to push ink into the bristles. They're 10-15 bucks per pen, but you basically save time because you won't have to dip between brush strokes.

thank you so much for letting us watch your process so closely 💕 it's so good to hear that brush & microns are your favourite combination. i've tried to get used to the brush pens (because everybody seems to be using them), and no matter what brand of brush pens i try, i just prefer a brush or a pen so much more. i have more control over my lines and it's much more enjoyable somehow. ... i haven't inked anything regularly in 20 years, but back when i was a teenager, i always used brushes to draw and nibs mainly for calligraphy, a bit of drawing too. so now i'll give myself permission to forget about brush pens (and faber castell pens ... their ink is not black enough for my taste >_

I’ve been searching for a nib holder like yours and can’t find one anywhere. Is that actually a lead holder?
@TerryMooreArt
@TerryMooreArt 3 жыл бұрын
No it's a real pen nib holder with a hole for round nibs like the Hunt 102 I keep in it. It's very old I bought it in the 80s. It looks like it was made by Xacto but there is no name on it. I did a Google search and I couldn't find one either. Guess I'd be screwed if I lost this one.

@@TerryMooreArt Yeah, I thought it looked like something Xacto would make and I did a search with that in mind as well, but to no avail... Hang on tight to yours!
