Ana Minox vaka setter pace mazuva avo in the 90s, sando tovapa but relevance in terms of music yaka fedha hayo kudhara. Pane ka arrogance & bitterness in the manner he engages or speaks about others. Pa team rezera rake from his era he’s the only one still stuck in the past. However still respect due to the madman for his community work & promoting ma works ema youths.

Minnox understands the genre. However, origins and variations of reggae music are disputed by the reggae artists themselves. Rub a dub was more of a dancing style than a type of reggae. This was a style of dance yemusic yairidzwa at the time by Roots Radics, with Errol Flabba Holt at the helm. Don’t forget the influence of Henry Junjo. This was early dancehall with a slow groove. You also mention sleng teng. Whilst I agree Wayne Smith popularised the digital age, he may not have been the first to put lyrics on a digital riddim. Anthony Red Rose had done a song on King Tubby Tempo riddim prior to sleng teng. Nuff raspect

Why are you coming up with a complicated definition of Zimdancehall, Mr Minox? These guys simply took Jamaican dancehall music and sang it in Shona, predominantly. It's difficult to really say who started it. Guys like The Pied Pipers, Assegai Crew, Culture T, Daddy Ray, Badd Bwoy Crew, Tonderai from Norton (of the Neni neni fame) all did it before the turn of the millenium. Back then it was considered too immature or zvembanje. Sungura and gospel were the in thing, locally that is. Enter year 2000 and the 100% local content on radio kicked in. This was championed by the then Minister of Information, Jonathan Moyo. This gave rise to many youts experimenting with different genres, from R and B, Reggae, Dancehall, Soul, Jazz, you name it. Generous airplay was accorded to these youngsters, courtesy of the 100% local content mantra. This gave rise to people like your Winky D's, Sniper Storm's, Shinso's, and the rest is history. In fact Zimdancehall and Urban Grooves genres ore a lot to Prof Jonathan Moyo for his push and vision to see the local music rise above the domination from foreign sounds which were aired back then.
