there is a lot of compensation done when you do the sizing before the printing so nothing is lost during the processing and it appears evenly done without losing the quality of the work.

Hi, cool stuff. I’m seeing people asking art questions. Do you have any tips on how to draw hair? Thanks, awesome channel content 👍🏻

I have it on video in this channel somewhere. I visualize fluid nature. I’ll do a lesson on it again soon.

Is that a scanner/printer? Can you tell me your make/model? Thanks!

It's an Epson Expression 1640XL. Mine is old and has been the only scanner I needed, it's never failed me! They still make this model and the price is basically the same. I recommend this model, it has been a faithful workhorse!

Love the idea of the graphic novel but i tell ya, it's weird and a kinda unpleasant feeling when there's no new monthly book from Abstract Studio. I really hope Parker Girls won't be the last.

Do you separate the line art from the scanned paper background in PS, in order to get a true white background in the printed copies?
@TerryMooreArt
@TerryMooreArt Жыл бұрын
No. When you scan in bitmap mode it scans only the black lines and places it over computer white. So that gives the look you're describing. When you scan in rgb or gray mode you get the paper itself too and trying to raise the white and crush the blacks to do what you're describing does bad things to the artwork lines.

@@TerryMooreArt Just one more follow-up question for you: do you have experience scanning pencil drawings for reproduction? If so, do you also scan the lighter pencil lines in bitmap, using this same technique you use to scan in ink? Ideally, I'd like to preserve all of the finer grey tones of the pencil lines, while still placing the drawing over a computer white background, which is tricky and so any tips would be appreciated!

@@AC-eb5wj Scan in rgb or grayscale to capture all your delicate pencil markings, then in photoshop make a white background layer, then a second layer with your pencil art and set that layer to multiply, it will then blend with the white layer. You can make fine adjustments with the levels adjustment. Maybe I should do a video on this.

@@TerryMooreArt Again Terry, this is incredibly helpful - thank you! I'm sure that if you did decide to make a video about this, you'd help a lot of people out. Reproducing pencil drawings for print is notoriously challenging and finicky and in my own search, I found plenty of forums of people searching for an effective way to do this, with a real lack of direct, helpful info out there. Thanks again!

Hello Terry. I have created a black and white comic in Photoshop with a Mode setting of 'Gray Scale'. When I print the pages (.jpg) using Staples print service on a standard bond, the tones are somewhat washed out, and the black is a dark gray. Is there a tutorial somewhere that can show me how to export my gray scale artwork correctly? Should it be printed using a Rich Black? CMYK? Perhaps you could direct me to an answer to my question? Thank you for your time and professionalism.

Good question because this happens almost every time with grayscale images that I want to use. I will show you what I do about it in the next Studio Sunday video, Dec 31.
