I have a number of the same person but with different names (generally me forgetting that I have already saved them under their surname, for example). What is the best way of amalgamating the two names?

@@irhgsy you can merge them. Use the 3 dot menu and then choose Merge People

Thanks Terry. Great intro. I use LrC mostly and am familiar with how to sync collections to LR but when I do sync them they come up as a random list of collections that have no organizational structure, mostly because in LrC I have them organized within folders and collection sets and those don’t sync. Is there a better way to have them organized in LR?

I just want to know how to export from Lightroom on my phone to Lightroom Classic on my desktop computer. You didn't even cover this.

I did mention it a couple of times. It’s not an export. It’s a sync. If you turn on Sync in LrC, your Lr photos will automatically sync down to LrC.
