I've seen quite a lot of desk setups and yea most of them are cool, but not many of them are actually practical. This is such a good setup, minimalistic and yet you get everything you will need on top of that it looks super slick, I love it!

quick question for you. How are you switching between monitors from your pc and laptop? are you toggling the inputs on each monitor?

So when I'm switching, I usually turn off one of the devices which disconnects the video signal. When I turn on the new device the 32 inch monitors can automatically detect the new signal and switch to the right video input. Unfortunately if I'm using both the PC and Macbook at the same time, I do have to manually toggle them.

Hi, try this collabs.shop/jqnslq for the desk. Unfortunately, MUJI's website isn't great but the shelf if called Stainless Unit Shelf - Wide Large in the light grey color. You can customise them with different coloured frames and accessories but best to go in store to take a look if you can.

when cleaning your pc I suggest using canned air since the bristle on a vacuum cleaner may make static electricity that can damage your motherboard and other components or knock off any small pieces from the motherboard

All I need is a screen then I am good. There is an Huberman lab episode on how to get into flow state. Essentially you need to focus your eyes on a relatively small space and don't move them around. I have implemented this a few months back, by only using a laptop and nothing else. No other screens. My productivity skyrocketed at work and at home, you need to get kind of good with managing windows quickly but its absolutely worth it Source: How to Focus to Change Your Brain | Huberman Lab Podcast #6 at the section beginning at 56:40

The M1 Pro MBP only has video output to two of the three monitors though. The monitors actually support PIP so I could actually use them simultaneously if I wanted to!

Hey, I ordered the castor wheels from your description. Unfortunately, they don't fit in my omnidesk. My bolt size is smaller. Is there anything you did to make it work?

Hey man, nope I didn't have to do anything. The wheels fit perfect for me. Although I've gone through my order history to double check the sizing and it looks like the seller has changed the bolt size on their listing. The right bolt size for me was an M8x1.25. I recommend taking your levelling feet to the local hardware store to double check. They should have a chart with different bolts you can screw your levelling feet into to check the size. After that, make sure the caster wheels match. Hope that helps!

Do you have an update regarding the Xiaomi monitor light “puck” switch? Does it still look like its brand new? I had mine for almost 3 years now and the rubber coating on the “puck” is now sticky. I used all sorts of suggestion on how to remove the sticky stuff but didn’t work.😢 Even though the light is still working, I just hide the switch somewhere since it’s an eye sore.😂

I have the S3221QS and an LG 32" 4k in portrait. S3221QS is a great monitor. If you get the screen flickering with the MacBook set the color profile to Rec 709, the darker blacks have stopped the flickering for me.

I would consider a bracket that would allow you to mount it underneath the desk. If you have an older mac that is prone to heating up, there are brackets that leave the bottom of the mac exposed which should help it stay cooler.

The ports are on the back of the docking station because that's where they belong. To break it down more: the host connection; line out for speakers; DisplayPort; HDMI; and most of the USB connections belong on the back. This is where you should plug in things that stay plugged in all the time. The only connections on the front should be: SD card slots; headphone jack; two or three USB posts to plug in thumb drives or charge phones, watches, tablets, mice, keyboards, etc. Otherwise, you have a mess of cables all over your desk which is NOT clean and minimal. Good job on the clean minimal setup.

The problem is the Dell monitor only get signal from HDMI 1 even though the monitor has two HDMI ports. I tried to have the HDMI from my iMac plug into the HDMI 2 and the HDMI cable from the PC tower plugged into the HDMI 1, but only the signal from the HDMI 1 is recognized even when I turned off my PC tower. Do you have an alternative solution?

just a question about the dock can you connect a USB C monitor (like a dell) to the dock and work it that way? I ask because I have an older dock with USB C but when I connect my new curved Dell monitor to the USB C in the USB C connection in the dock it doesn't work (only when you connect the USB C cable from the monitor directly to my PC. Am I missing something? Is there such a thing as a different USB C port (which doesn't do picture and just charges for example?) Love your channel!! Thank you so much!

Hello, yes the ports on the back are thunderbolt 4 certified so it will support video on a USB-C monitor as long as the cable and monitor also support video. Yes you're absolutely right, not all USB-C ports support video, so it's likely the port on your current dock doesn't. Hope that helps!

You have a great desk setup. I am working on my home office desk and wanted to ask a question. Like you, I noticed that you use a windows based operating system to run your CAD file or construction documents. I recently bought a Mac Book Pro and found out that the software that my company uses does not work with IOS thus forced to keep my window based system. I have a Dell WD 22TB4 docking station that delivers power to my laptop when connected. My question is this, is it possible to connect my two screens to the windows PC and have the option to connect the Mac Book Pro via the docking station as I choose? How would the wiring be set up? Hello, I guess that would depend on the number of display inputs your monitors support. If you're monitors have support for at least two inputs each, and you want both devices plugged into the monitors and have the ability to switch between them, I guess you could have each monitor plugged into your dock for your PC and then also connect the monitors to your Macbook separately via a HDMI/Displayport to USB-C cable. If you're using the dock for your Macbook, same thing but plug the Macbook into the dock, dock into monitors and plug the second set of HDMI/ Displayport cable from the monitors directly into the PC. Alternatively, if your monitors only support one input each, you could also buy a dock that has KVM support so that you can have both the PC and Mac plugged into the same dock that allows you to switch between devices. Keep in mind, not all Macbooks support dual monitors so make sure you check on the Apple website. Hope that helps.

I got cable wraps instead of an open cage (that collects dust and is harder to clean on the long term. Also, for the under desk cable management, get a closed system - the open ones collect dust and are just a pain to clean. And if you do photo/video work, i would actually avoid a light bar in front of the screen - Im using a 4K100% SRGB calibrated panel with a matte display, and lights in front of the display are a bad idea - One very unexpected side effect of pandemic videoconferencing is that I got a key light, it's recessed about 2"behind the monitor and points down towards me and my desk - that way the light doesnt affect your actual screen. And being a key light with 2.8k to 6.5k WB, it's easily adjustable to match my room lighting at night. I swear by this lighting setup and I no longer have a desk lamp or overhead light.

Some USB-C ports can delivery video output. I suggest looking up your computer's specs to check. Then just use a USB-C to USB-C, HDMI or DisplayPort cable depending on what ports are available on your monitor.

Nice setup but it would've been more practical and just as clean to have it against the wall under the window, and it would've probably solved your speaker cable problem too. You could have your speakers on each side of the desk. Looking at the back of a desk, monitors, and a PC is really not that attractive at all.

Okay so everything was great, but you should try cleaning your PC outside. Because it's got fans it's basically a giant air filter and cleaning it inside is just redistributing the dust in your home to get sucked back into the PC. If you clean it outside for a few cycles it'll start getting less and less.

Thanks! The table is 1825mm x 760mm (71.85 inches x 29.92 inches). You can definitely go smaller if table space isn't a concern but I probably wouldn't want to see too much closer when using 3 monitors.
