ya know all that work they have a wiring adaptor to connect old plug into new console... I don't recall who sells it but my friend had gotten it when he did his 2018 M3 center console swap...

I saw someone on a tesla forum do this just by swapping the connector ends manually successfully. I'll probably go that route

I wouldn’t recommend swapping connectors, you will need some complex tool to remove the terminals, and even with the tools its a nightmare to take them off without damaging the pins. (Been there, done that) Its easier to swap the wire harness

Besides the sliding door on the center console. What else is actually updated? It really is stupid that the model Y and 3 have different plugs for the center console.

Wireless charger, slightly more storage and it's not glossy black that gets a ton of finger prints and I think the Y and 3 plugs are the same it's just the year that makes them different
