Thank you so much for even showing interventions, JC! I’ve been watching all of your videos as FSD has done so well. But I also value knowing/watching its areas for improvement. Keep up the great work!

Hahaha! That would be great! Or heck, just name a burger after my FSD drives (the zero intervention burger) 🤣. Well actually maybe not, I would not have been able to get one of those burgers last night....🤣

The biggest issues that i have with FSD in over 6000 miles have to do with mapping and not FSD it self. Great video!

Thank you, JC! I watched it! The critical intervention should be fixed, but it is complicated, especially in the airport! And I hope FSD changes lanes faster! Have a good day!

So that critical intervention is a temporary construction "re-route" or they changed a two-way into a one-way and the maps out of date (like you said it's wrong on google too)? Very interesting! Of course glad you're supervising lolol. Those unique things like a airport or weird parking ramps in general, it really needs high-res scanning/reading and real-time logic that can override map anomalies. Like I've said before that last 5% of driving is going to take time/feedback but FSD is still so damn impressive.

Yes, our airport here in Houston is a hot mess right now. I am happy they are revitalizing it, but it makes for terrible traffic and confusion right now. And agree on possible use of other methods when they initially roll this out, such as teleoperation and other, as least initially and in very complex areas like our airport. Will be interesting to see what they do. Thanks for watching my video and commenting! 🙏

In your opinion, would a Tesla make a good first car? I'm planning on leasing one after I get my license. Thanks for your videos, btw, they're critical for improving the technology. Keep it up!

Well, there's so much construction at IAH that it confuses humans. Otherwise very impressive. This is enough to motivate me to buy a Tesla later this year if I can find the money for it.

That's awesome! You will love it! And yes, our airport here in Houston is a hot mess! If you do decide to get a Tesla, don't forget that I include a referral code in my video descriptions that will save you money on the purchase. The amount changes from time to time, currently it is $1K, but has been $2K before as well. So when/if you do decide, don't hesitate to use it if you like. Thank you for watching my video and commenting! 🙏

For some reason, the U-turn on Will Clayton right as you pass the Shell gas station (minute 17:54 in your video), does not recognize the two-way lane. I always have to intervene if there is not a car in the opposing lane. I am running FSD V13. I'm curious if it will be solved with the next update.

Thanks for pointing that out! I will need to check that out the next time I go to the airport. I probably don't notice it since I am not going that direction, but interested now. Thanks for watching and commenting Luis!

IAH is a hot mess with all the unending construction mess. Im hoping once its fixed FSD will run a lot smoother. Thanks for the video I was wondering how FSD would do in the messy airport.

Yes, the construction is a nightmare at IAH. It is actually better now than it was about 9-12 months ago, but still really bad. And even after they complete construction in certain areas, the Google Maps data hasn't been updated to reflect the new roads and structures. All of this makes it really difficult to use FSD at the airport. But even with all this complexity, I have seen huge significant improvements with FSD at the airport. It's really the one place in Houston where you can go and see how much it is progressing. Thanks for watching and commenting on my video!🙏

JC, what brand/model of camera do you have mounted above the windshield aimed at you?
@johnchristopher7697
@johnchristopher7697 13 күн бұрын
I have a GoPro Hero 12 Black mounted at the top of my front windshield, all the way to the top and just to the left of my rearview mirror. I use a suction cup mount to hold the GoPro. I also take the battery out of the GoPro and run a USB-C cable into it, so that it doesn't overheat. This is the exact same model GoPro that I use for my middle roof mounted GoPro. Let me know if you have any other questions. And thanks for watching and commenting! 🙏

Absolutely! I have generally been happy with the GoPros. They can overheat, especially when doing videos in 4K, but the quality of their recordings is really good. You just have to find ways to keep the camera cooled down.

Airports would be a major selling point to Cybercab. Tesla must map out all airports.
@johnchristopher7697
@johnchristopher7697 13 күн бұрын
Yes, I could see airports being one of the highest use cases for Cybercabs. But also agree that the mapping data is going to have to get better, at least at the Houston airport, in order for it to be unsupervised without a teleoperator. I don't necessarily rule out Tesla using some teleoperation in complex areas when they first role it out, heck Waymo basically has one teleoperator per vehicle right now, and they are geofenced mapped. But the goal is to one day not have to even rely on the maps. We obviously are not there yet, but making tremendous progress. Thank you for watching and commenting on my video! 🙏

@@johnchristopher7697 It may not be as far as remote controlling it. However, mapping out the entire airports shouldn't be hard to do. This would include designated taxi points for departure, arrival, garages, levels, airlines, gates ... when user dropping pin for endpoints, those places are clearly marked. For Airbnb type of business model, every Tesla should be available at night to serve as taxi for others in places like airports.
@johnchristopher7697
@johnchristopher7697 13 күн бұрын
I completely agree with you on mapping out airports for the most part, except for when they are under heavy construction like ours. Any mapping you do would be outdated within a week, sometimes less. So heavy construction areas may even need some teleoperation just until the neural networks get trained up enough to where they can adapt to changing construction zones as well as humans do.

JC Christopher, I have some details and questions that haven’t been answered yet, and I believe it’s just a matter of time before we see results. It’s about the computer cluster Tesla & xAI have. Based on my calculations, a cluster of 100k GB200NVL72 GPUs could process 1.2 quadrillion tokens per second. Is my math correct for this number of units? I’m also trying to estimate how this compares to the time OpenAI might have spent training their models. If my calculations are accurate, xAI could theoretically train a model like ChatGPT-4O in just one minute. Could you help confirm if my math checks out? Or guide me in a direction! And they will probably use the same computing power for FSD, Grok3, Optimus, ...
@johnchristopher7697
@johnchristopher7697 13 күн бұрын
Thank you for your comment Ricardo! And you are correct about the amazing speed of the GPU clusters and the improvements they are making. I am not a Tesla employee nor an engineer, so my recommendation would be reach out to Tesla and xAI and see if they provide any of this information publicly. I do not have access to any of this data. Thanks for watching and commenting on my video! 🙏

You should probably rephrase the title. This makes it seem like it is referring to a safety or possible collision intervention, and it couldn't be further from the truth. It's just wrong map data.
@johnchristopher7697
@johnchristopher7697 13 күн бұрын
I looked at my title and I don't see anything wrong with it. I discussed this with the Tesla FSD folks on X as well and we all agree that this is just a typical critical intervention. They happen. I am just blessed that it hasn't happened for me in over 1K miles. The term critical intervention is a very commonly used term in our community and does not mean there was a collision. But going the wrong way down a one way road under any scenario is not a good thing, and I wanted to be transparent about this. Also, I clearly provide ample details in the timestamps. Thank you for watching and commenting!
