Dave, I've respected your reports for years and I actually feel like you are engaging in a conversation. I've greatly benefited from my investments in the last five years. I believe in Tesla and I believe in Elon's direction, but I don't think the world at large can sustain itself until these ideas from my childhood finally come to fruition. Russia is stroking nuclear threats, American democracy is crumbling, There is no global initiative to fix the climate. I want Tesla to succeed, I know it will, but I am worried that external societal pressures will screw it up.

I am a Tesla shareholder and an ardent Elon Musk fan. In my opinion, one of Elon’s greatest strengths is his willingness to try things and, if they go pear-shaped, to admit that he made a mistake, correct it and move on. I am also a big Dave Lee fan. Your analysis of Tesla and the stock market is always cogent and Elon pays attention to your tweets. Watching the Twitter saga devolve into a personal smear campaign against Elon and seeing Elon waste his time hiring hardcore streetfighters for a new litigation department is like watching a modern-day version of the tragic stories of Midas and Icarus. Can you think of a way to convince Elon to just walk away from this accursed Twitter deal ($1B breakup fee notwithstanding) and get back to performing his "everyday" miracles, like sharing his vision for Tesla in Master Plan Part 3, wowing the engineering world with Tesla AI Day #2, and launching the first manned spaceship to Mars?

Basically, Tesla is an engineer; other auto companies are just like a factory worker. Both are building cars. That's the only difference here. BTW, Tesla silicon is a huge deal and it could be much better if we can know a little more about this team. As far as I know, Tesla used air cooling for the FSD board at first, and then changed to liquid cooling to improve heat dissipation. If that still hold true until today, I would say that their FSD chip is not that "power efficient" like Elon said.

Those are good arguments, but what is more important continuing to put your energy as the chief creative officer into what your company can really be or put your energy into the culture war that you are putting your energy right now. At this point I am ok with that because it will bring Tesla to a great new entry point level for Investors.

Who does the shaving for Elon? Looks like he should vertically integrate that also instead of out sourcing it to someone else.

FSD will be widely adopted if and when insurance rates make it economically advantageous. I wouldn't be surprised if in the future only the very wealthy will be able to afford to own and operate human driven vehicles on public roads.

When Elon said that about 1 Mil will have FSD by the end of the year, I wonder if that means he will distribute it to all who bought it in those countries that allow it?
