is it possible to not have the light bar blink when turning? I just want a solid bar turned on and not do anything except just light up when the lights are on and turn off when the lights are off.

Hi Lowness, I get what you're saying and i'm guessing if someone can work out the right wire to snip then it should be possible but... It could end in killing the lights completely.

Hands down the most helpful write up for model 3 owners. Way better than the instructional video the manufacturer provided.. I dont believe it was mentioned but when removing the Camera, make sure you remove the clips from the trunk and place them on the light strip. That way the camera can snap back in place. Thanks again!

Also for the model 3, I found that the long yellow connector can be plugged into the orange connector next to the left tail light harness.. that confused me because of the colors.. a better diagram would've been helpful if they provided that

When you say ‘idle animation’ do you mean the lightbar randomly plays animations whilst driving with the lights on?

I went through 2 of these systems. The first one never worked, and the 2nd one lasted for 1 week. Both units had a defective light bar. I had them professionally installed. After the second failure, I trashed them and put on Alpharex lighting system instead.

I heard these light bars are bulky and stick out from the trunk ruining the smooth aesthetic. Have you found this to be the case or does it sit fairly flush? Thanks!

It's not flush against the overhang of the boot but I wouldn't say that it sticks out too much. I personally think it looks like it came out of the factory 😁

Hi Michael, I tucked both into the cavity behind the tail lights as the orange cable doesn't seem to perform a function.

That looks really cool. I’m curious if on the Model Y with the Reviver digital plate, will it still fit? The digital plate is much thicker than a regular license plate.

This light bar works on both the 3 & Y. I have a video coming out where I’ll be replace all of the lights (including tail lights) on my wife’s Y, so stay tuned for that!

So we’re stuck - looks like our kits are identical, red herrings and all! Where does the orange cable with the blade connector on the end connect to (the one that has an inline fuse)? Didn’t see where you placed that in the video. Also, any issues with the cables being pinched running the wire on the outside of the wire loom?

Hi Top Shelf Tesla, the orange cable is redundant so mine is left hanging in the cavity. I’ve had no issue with pinching, having secured it with the cable ties. Are you finding that?

Great video, thanks for this....I installed this and only half of the light bar works. All of the installation instructions say to connect the orange cable to the 12V connecter in the trunk but the Model 3 doesn't have a 12v connector in the trunk like the Model Y does. I connected mine like you did it seems and it only half works. The half that does work the brake works but not the turn signal. Contacted support, we will see how that goes....def concerned it won't get fixed.

Hi Damien, the orange wire doesn't connect into the 12v, it doesn't connect to anything in mine and the full animation works perfectly. Have you tried disconnecting and reconnecting each side? Side, like any install, have you rebooted the car?

@@TeslaLightShows Hey thanks for the response, that made me think to swap the left and right side plugs. Turns out they were mislabeled and now the right turn signal works as well as the brake light. Left side still doesn’t lite up at all. I think I have a bad light bar unfortunately. It’s gonna be fun to heat up that 3M VHB tape to pull it off if that is the issue. A reboot didn’t help either but good idea 👍🏼

@@damiengvideos4337- I had the same problem as you AND my rear view camera didn’t work. Have you been able to return your bar. I’m done with mine!! The ‘extension’ cable wasn’t long enough to run to the left tail light (as per Instructions) The 4 loose wires at the end of the extender is a hocky way to connect. Absolutely crap directions!!!

Hi @E, the bar fits under the truck, where the opening catch/button is and secured tightly behind the license plate light but with M3 tape to the body of the car 😊

You have the best video on this installation. There are so many that are lacking. There is a piece that was put in my kit that has no home. Its a wedfe with spring loaded wings. Any ideas as to what it is for?

Thank you Lee... That didn't come in my package although I also recommended some extra components in the form of some screed that didn't belong to the set. They must have had a overactive elf at the workshop 😊

Yes... There's a small obstruction at the top door to being lowered as part of the install. I got used to it relatively quickly

Hi Mat, yes I did but a reboot brought everything back up. It's a good idea to do this after any install just to make sure that there's no connection timeouts. Hold the 2 rollerballs down on the steering wheel... I normal would let it run it's course and leave it for 20 minutes.

Thanks I let the car,go to sleep and that solved it after reboot. The camera can see the strip and I get the phantom alert that I am close to something when reversing. Do you have that? Otherwise your video was great to help with the install.

How is the camera view for you mine sees so much of the light bar the car often thinks I’m backing into something.

Hi Matc, the camera is obscured a little at the top but I've gotten used to it. I haven't had any issue with the car's reverse sensors though, as we've not touched those 🤔

Thanks @creatorex, the cable could be routed through the tube but I wanted to have quick access to everything in case I needed to go back at any point... In hindsight, I love the bar and still have it in place so might neaten it up but it's been perfectly functional to this point. I'm not sure on what you mean by the back cover piece, can you elaborate?

The cable? That came off quite easily although there is a clip that you'll need to undo to allow the connector to slip off... Hope that helps. If its something else, let me know

Well... Knock me down with a feather. I've had my M3 & and MY for 2 years now and not registered the guidelines!!! The lines look ok to me on the M3, although having not really seen them before i have no reference as to how they may have changed. I'd suggest checking that the camera is sitting 100% correctly... In theory it's only moved downward by a few millimetres so although a slight change in the guidelines might be expected, i'd imagine that it shouldn't be by too much.

Hi @derrynknight69... The transformer is tucked into the cavity by the tail lights as there's plenty of room there 😊

I think there are conformity issues with the colour of the light. Solid Red lights are brakes, flashing amber are indicators. This light has flashing red indicators. Take it to an MoT test centre and ask them before you drive it.

Can you test the animations when the brake is held down and a turn signal is on. I have an issue where the turn signal and brake animation looks like it’s glitching out and flashing in the opposite direction!

you May have the left & right cables wired up the wrong way around? Try switching them around… So the connector you currently have into the back of the right tail light, move that to the left tail light and vice versa. Hope that makes sense ?
