Welcome back to another Texas Tint Masters video! Today at our shop here in Houston, Texas, we are working on one of the most notorious vehicles in the tinting world, a Tesla Model X! The owner trusted us to provide the highest quality of Ceramic Window Tint, also known as Nano Ceramic Window Tint XPEL XR PLUS, for his vehicle.
What is Ceramic Window Tint?
Ceramic window tint is the best performing and longest lasting tint for cars and Tesla Model X. Ceramic window tint is much more effective for heat protection because of the way it targets heat. Designed to target and block infrared light though special infrared blockers in the film’s layers, ceramic window tint is the best choice in window tinting for desired heat reduction entering the cab of a car.
What is the difference between regular tint and ceramic tint?
Most of the heat that the sun emits is through the form of infrared light. In total, infrared radiation makes up 49.4% of total solar energy while visible light accounts for about 42.4% and Ultra Violet (UV) making up 8%.
Since ceramic tint is designed to target infrared light, it does not have to be dark to be effective. Clear ceramic window tint is much more effective for heat control than the dark regular “dyed” window tint
The Tesla Model X is the ultimate form of game changing electric vehicle technology and sophisticated luxury car aesthetics. The Tesla Model X is known for many things, such as it's avian-like winged doors and the overarching gigantic front windshield that creates a futuristic feel and look for any Tesla Model X passenger. The owner of this particular Tesla Model X that is featured in the vehicle expressed how he really wanted to reduce the overall heat in his vehicle but give his vehicle some privacy on his windows.
LET'S GET STARTED: We start off with doing intake pictures of any vehicle we work on. We inspect all of the parts of the Tesla Model X, making sure that we notate everything we see. Once we are done with intakes, we go ahead and take the vehicle into our state-of-the-art window tint shop in Houston, Texas! As per every Tesla Model X ceramic window tinting installation, we cover all of the door panels and any part of the Tesla Model X that would be susceptible to water damage with soak ropes and/or towels that are designed to soak water, preventing them from damaging any electronics on the Tesla Model X.
Why? Because these soak ropes and towels do an amazing job at soaking up all the moisture from damaging your vehicle. Any Tesla Model X or electric vehicle owner can attest that this is a vital step for their vehicle, in order to prevent damage to any sensitive electric components. We also use a state-of-the-art computer cut system to cut out the tint for any of the vehicles coming into our Houston, Texas location. This way, the vehicle has consistent cuts and edges, and there is no razorblades damage on any windows.
Ceramic Window Tint Heat Test Review Results (highlight)
- As you can see in the video, we tried and tested out the heat rejection percentage range of Ceramic Window Tint. While measuring with the heat lamp, the solar meter picked up on a range of 700-900 btu's (British Thermal Units). However once we put ceramic tint in front of the heat lamp, we measured out to about a 10-50 btu's.
