Thank you for this great fix! I've been faffing about with the load cover for a while but never thought of sliding it down behind the back seats. Genius!

Might be a small thing but this answers my exact situation. I didn’t think to do that push back part you described. I just got our model y a few weeks ago and still learning. Thanks.

Ok. Finally a really beneficial video today : ). I still would probably prefer a version of the roll-up design. The cover just lays on side rails. it is not secured with snaps or anything. So it makes noise when I happen to hit a bump in the road or drive through rough roads. I would be careful placing items on top of it because it is very high and there is very little to keep those items from rolling forward. They would also obstruct your view

Very clever. Taking delivery of new Model Y LR next week and will use your tip. Otherwise I wouldn't have known about this. Great Tip! Thank you.

I am thinking of adding pull tabs to the end or the middle hinge to make folding it up easier... Else, I will design my own.

I don’t need it with the tinted rear windows. Just gets in the way. I never use it. I took it out day one as he said. Other vehicles I’ve had like a Ford Explorer. Never used it.

It also reduces noise coming from the trunk

If you get into a collision, anything you put on top of that shelf is getting launched into the front cabin. Keep it below.
@JimboP-Outside10 ай бұрын
You could say that about anything behind you, including people who don’t wear seatbelts, anything you store on the backseat, or for the many who remove the parcel shelf and store items right up to the roof.
@Unavailable892310 ай бұрын
Don't do those either. :-) Items that are behind the seats and under the shelf are arguably safer than items on top of the self!
@JimboP-Outside10 ай бұрын
@@Unavailable8923 Yes, you’re definitely right about that. 👍
@ricric95216 ай бұрын
@@JimboP-Outside Yes but there are plenty of times, as I'm sure you know when you have to stop or slow abruptly that would totally toss those items stored on top but not ones on the floor of the trunk area.

You need a cover to hide your belongings. They also offer the roll up kind via aftermarket.
@JimboP-Outside Жыл бұрын
Personal preference but I’ve never liked those roll up versions, had them in my three previous vehicles. They’re so flimsy. This type is strong enough to store items right on top. Like having two levels in the trunk. Plus the sub trunk, so three levels.
@donstefano29889 ай бұрын
Thanks for your video. It was a good advice how to use. Still I don´t agree with you, a "roll up" is far better, but your use-advices was helpful. Thanks again

How much do you need to push it back to hide items from view?
@JimboP-Outside Жыл бұрын
To hide items from view I use the sub trunk or frunk.

Hi, could I ask what’s the height underneath the lowest section of the parcel shelf? Curious what the tallest item that can be in the back without having to take down the shelf? Really hard to find that info online!
@JimboP-Outside Жыл бұрын
Looks like it's about 14-15 inches. This is with a mat (3D Max Pider) which might be half an inch think. So without a mat maybe it's 15.5 inches.

@@CGRFilmsStudios ?? I did measure it, re-read my reply. It’s about 14-15 inches give or take due to my mat cover. It’s not easy to get into the trunk under the parcel shelf.
