I keep going back and forth between the 3 and Y performance. Awesome points you covered here! I do like the extra space of the Y for camping.

Thanks! Tough choice, both are great, We’re an suv fam and wanted the extra space. Don’t really sacrifice much except the feeling of sitting closer to the road. Totally understand that’s a big deal for some! Good luck with the choice!

I’ve had my 2021 model Y long range for over two years now and I like it. I tow an 1800lb (measured weight) pop-up camping trailer and the tree hour drive to my favourite camping area only uses 75% of my battery capacity. I drive no faster than 100kph (60mph) where the speed limit is that high. The model Y is the only EV car that comes with seven pin trailer wiring for electric trailer brakes when you order the trailer hitch from the factory. I don’t like the low profile tires, the rims will touch a curb and will get dinged. Best to avoid when you can, then just get over it. I don’t like it that you can’t get steel rims for your snow tires. It’s even easier to touch a curb in the winter. It’s a very powerful car I don’t understand why anyone would ever need a performance model. The backup camera views are fabulous. I don’t like the harshness of the suspension, but I think that has been improved in recent models. I really like being able to keep heat or airco on while parked and waiting for someone and watching KZbins while doing so. I don’t like that when you set preconditioning (battery and cabin heat) for the morning it keeps that schedule indefinitely unless you reset it. You can’t set preconditioning for departure for one time only. This means that if you set it for say, an 6:30 early road trip departure it will use battery power to heat everything up again at 6:30 the next day (while parked not plugged in at gramma’s for instance) unless you turn that feature off thus draining battery power you may be trying to preserve. A few annoyances but over all I like it. We operate the one car for the two of us.

Thank you for the reply and sharing this detailed information! I totally agree on the low profile wheel/tire setup. Have you looked at the T-Sportline overland wheels and tire package? We've had them for 6 months and love them! Love the idea of towing a small camper and getting further out there with the MY!

Thorough analysis, loved the info! I think the idea of waving to the gas stations without going in is kind of the best part of this 👋🏼⛽️! 😅😂💁🏼♀️ Loved the pros and cons and testing it for more adventure based driving! Great review🫡

How do you feel about the panoramic roof? Living here in Florida, I'd probably buy a cover for it.

Its pretty tinted so doesn't seem to impact internal heat as much. I do wish it would open tho :)

Well, I really like my 2023 Tesla model Y vehicle. Yes I do agree that my vehicle drives more like a Sports car even with the overall weight. I would never do Off Road driving because of the possible damage it could do to the bottom of the vehicle. I will never get FSD or EAP for my Tesla because of cost and really do not need those features. It was my choice "only" to get the Tesla EV and only do around town driving and home charging, no long trips or never use public charging stations. Not everyone will find an EV right now does not meet their daily long driving needs. Gas vehicles will still be around for a long time. So do your homework on EV's before deciding to get one. Prices are high right now but are slowly coming down. Lastly, I like Tesla's buying direct process. I hate dealerships and the games they play to buy a vehicle. Thanks for the video and take care.

Does the auto emegency brake happen only in auto pilot

Yes that is the only time I’ve had it happen. But I have all the options for emergency maneuvers turned off. So not sure if it would happened in any case if those were on…

@@mattycars is auto-pilot different from cruise control? Does it have adaptive cruise control?
@mattycars11 ай бұрын
Auto-pilot is basically adaptive cruise control with steering too. Tesla also has FSD (Full Self-Driving) which is a paid option that will allow the car to drive around everywhere including stop signs and traffic lights and freeway onramps etc. I only have Auto-Pilot but i have been in Teslas with FSD and its pretty amazing and terrifying at the same time haha

But.... What kills a pack is charging 100% and LEAVING it to "soak". The trick is to time your charge WHEN YOU NEED THE RANGE (1 journey in 50?) and aim to finish at 100% when you're ready to leave. Then it's no problem.... Whichever pack you have

Good review dude! So I think the car itself could be an every day driver/vehicle to do everything you need, but my big question is Tesla’s supercharger network. In my experience borrowing my son’s new Tesla, is that you have to really pay attention to where you’re going and if they’re going to have a fast charger or a charger where you are gonna be stuck somewhere for three hours waiting to get enough miles to get home. I drove his car up to Logan thinking for sure a big valley like Logan would have a supercharger somewhere but they didn’t and ended up spending three hours at the Marriott, charging the car to make it back to Provo.
@mattycars Жыл бұрын
Thanks 🙌 Yes you nailed it. The charging is a big deal especially if venturing further from home or on road trips. Also the indicated range never seems to be accurate (real life is less). The navigation does do a good job of estimating range and planning when and where to charge. It will also calculate return trip range needs. It does take more planning tho. Did the Marriott give you cookies and an hourly rate at least! 🙌😄
@malphesto3885 Жыл бұрын
It does a good job estimating if you don't go over the speed limit. If I drove highway speed limit I often will get more range than estimate, no matter what else I'm doing to drain the battery. Speed is the most important thing.
@rogerstarkey539011 ай бұрын
It TELLS YOU where every supercharger on your route is, which ones you need and how long you should expect to stop, even before you start (IF you set the navigation to your destination) . It's idiot proof (almost)
