Love your stuff. Can't wait to see the first build with a Plaid motor.

I can't say how much I love this. It'll probably be another 10 yrs before crashed teslas are cheap enough but I'll be diy-ing this some day.

If you don't need tesla level of performance then leaf motor + inverter can give about 160kw of power for about 1000 dollars used from wreck

I have an old street legal fiberglass buggy in the garage I used to bounce around in at the So. Cal. deserts. I started taking it apart to rebuild it but lately been thinking about converting it to an electric street car since we haven't been going to the desert at all lately and just ride quads when we do. This his highly motivating. I hate the bus trans-axle with redux boxes and swing arm rear end, but I feel like keeping that will allow me to stay within a reasonable budget even though it likely adds a lot of drag on the powertrain. It is pretty beat up so I'd be rebuilding the whole thing. I like the idea of adding the subfloor for the batteries. Keeps the weight balanced and low.

No clip where we can hear what it sounds like? Would have loved a point of view from inside and outside with sound!

What would something like this run if a customer would want one just like it, quite interested in it.

As a mountain biker, the way side-by-sides are taking over everywhere, the noise reduction (and therefore impact of them) as EVs would be greatly improved. I still encourage people to access and enjoy nature with their bodies and not motors, but this helps!

I want an AWD electrified Ariel Nomad. Good news is that the chassis is tubular. Migh there be space to put in a battery floor? Even if kept thinner than a Tesla one? Putting a capable front end on there would be an interesting challenge. Ideally 4 motors, tank turn capable and of course at least the power of the original (say, 300 hp continuous) and decent range when cruising. Rock crawling, WRC and rallycross whipping EV?

That is one cool build!

I thought the big issue with flat towing was the regen. Potentially big drag force plus what to do with the energy, particularly when the battery is full.

Stop, get out, and go shift that sucker into neutral.

Nothing about the motor, batteries, or controller. Part II?

If I install a Tesla 3 motor in my ManxSR, can I flat tow it?
