Tesla Software Update 2021.24.5 | Tesla Model 3

In the latest Tesla Software Update 2021.24.5 we see a few new features added finally. Its been a while. We have car wash, dash cam improvement, wifi connectivity improvements, range display improvements.....but its also broken something!
No Disney plus I'm afraid for us in the UK, although other regions have got that with 2021.24.5.
Guess we will have better luck next time.

Go to display menu, change display language (not voice recognition) to something else and accept the prompt to reboot. Then do the same again but change back to English and again accept the prompt to reboot. Obviously pick a language you have a chance of understanding or at least make a careful note of where all the settings are on screen as after the first reboot the screen will be in that language. Theater apps will be restored.

Looks like you got in just in time, Tesla have now axed the referral code thing from 18th September. Hope they bring something back, it only works out £50 of free supercharging or their abouts, and expires in 6 months, so it wasn't really breaking the bank for them I imagine on a £40,000+ car.

Hi Murray, all good. Hope you are enjoying the Tesla!! I started a new job in July, and part time Uni in September. What was meant to be a break for a week or two, crept into a month or two, into 6 months. I will be making some more videos soon and will post a proper update to explain the absence, but just very busy with lots of things and something had to give unfortunately. This was a bit of a lockdown hobby, and I didn’t expect it to go so well, but really enjoy making the videos, so will be coming back to it. Thanks for the support

And with time-based limits near schools as well as different limits for lorries as we have on the A9 in Scotland - the Model 3 sees the 50 signs for the lorries and won't go any faster with autopilot enabled.

I found the easiest way round that is find European lorries with 100km speed signs on the back, then cover the cameras. Get everywhere way quicker 😬

I had a blank Theater screen after this update. I did a soft reset by holding down the two steering wheel buttons for 10 secs then let go. The system rebooted and all the apps (minus Disney+) re-appeared, and are working. The screen swiping has been around for ages. Try it with music. You can reduce the screen content by three levels of display from full content to a play/pause line, and closed completely. Useful if you want to see part of the navigation screen while playing something.

My car jumped 24.3 and 24.4 straight to 24.5. dashcam improvements I'm pleased about, and quick switching of percentage/miles. Car wash mode is also something I'll never use. Either I didn't lose any of the theatre stuff or it restored itself on its own.

The app closing swipe down was available 5 or 6 releases ago in Australia then disappeared in a later release and came back 2 releases ago. Currently on 2021.24.5

The swipe, has been possible for quite a while. But more importantly, try to swipe on the buttom row icons, like music, swipe up and down on it. :) Share it

I had the blank theatre issue as well a before a couple of updates ago (including this one) however it came back after the update before this one and still ok now. Apparently changing the language and reverting back or the car name does the trick.

I am still amazed that it is legal to drive along whilst looking at the giant iPad in the middle of the dashboard. It is dangerous enough to drive along staring at the car speedo instead of looking where you are going, whereas on a Tesla it is effectively on the Infotainment screen. Even so, I wish I could afford one

I do miss tactile buttons from time to time, but as a lot is automated, you rarely need to interact when driving, and when you do, just put on autopilot. It will keep you in lane and adjust speed for the quick glance at the screen. I really miss autopilot when I'm driving other cars, just for things like trying to change a radio station or something, where you can't keep eyes on the road completely

I haven’t checked if my theatre works since to be honest but I’ve heard of two fixes Rename your car to Patsy you will then get the month Python Easter egg, and then it should come back, you can then rename the car back. Alternatively if that doesn’t work change the language of the car then change it back

wheelie bins must be the most important hazard in the world but does the car drive around and get lead by the cones yet. if you take it cones are used to block off an lane and take you to another lane tesla can't seem to do that yet I always wonder can tesla see empty trailers and take the correct action and what happens when the sat nav goes down a road it should not go down. my sat nav has twice told me to turn right when the map was showing that it was a left turn and a left turn was the correct direction

Is this the same as Spotify, when I first got the car I couldn’t get Spotify and then I saw a video which told me to change the language to Dutch and then change it back and after that it worked!

weird, my M3LR 2021 updated to these features about 3 to 4 weeks ago, the app told me yesterday that another update was available, (the one in your title) so i updated but the features are exactly the same as installed previous;sy - can it update twice with the same update?

You might have got lucky and got an early release of 2021.24, basically the 2021.24 is the main release then all the other numbers are bug fixes generally with no new features. So I’d expect a 2021.24.6 soon, but probs won’t notice any difference

I guess that it is not quite the same but can't you just go to Disney + in the web browser? I don't subscribe to the channel so can't check. My 2021 M3 from China did not loose the theatre. However, as you have now learned, swapping the name of the car to Patsy enters Monty Python mode and that refreshes the theatre. Then just swap it back to your chosen name. Also simpler than changing the language and needing to reboot. Swipe down is long standing - doesn't make you an idiot for not knowing. For me the new range to switch between %age and miles is a great addition. I love bin day or a major roadworks!!!

I love the range thing too. Just nice to see, as rarely look at miles left so never really know off the top of my head what 66% translates to in miles. Now more likely to check. I think anything you access through the browser won’t play with sound. That would be the only issue
