Ordered my Tesla roof 10/13/20. Uploaded all the required info gave them my $100 deposit and have heard absolutely nothing from Tesla. I emailed my rep on the 1st week in Dec and got this response. Not real impressed with the communication and process so far. Thank you for your Tesla Solar Roof order! We are still waiting on the design team to complete your layout. They have a backlog at the moment, so due to the backlog and the holidays, your design will likely not be completed until late December at the earliest. You will be notified once your design is completed and able to be viewed in your Tesla account along with your quote. Kindest Regards, Brent Zeppenfeld Project Advisor - Solar Roof

Considering people need to be trained , they have a large number of orders and of course Covid this doesnt surprise me. You'll likely wont see the new roof until summer.
@SeedVisual3 жыл бұрын
As you know, this is a relatively new product that is being scaled as we speak. I remember when I ordered my model 3, it was hard to fathom that it would take 2+ years to deliver. Tesla definitely has some work to do, but I can assure you, once they get your system up and online, the wait will have been worth it.

Good video production (from a non-video producer). Hey, question/background. I have a Tesla (SolarCity) panel system on my house, and also four small-ish children. We are in the long process of changing all of our household appliances, vehicles, etcetera to electric, and expanding our electricity needs (quarantine above-ground pool for the kids, etcetera). Our PV system that we got four years ago just isn't covering our needs any longer...I have investigated adding panels to our system, but it's not feasible due to the string inverter setup. I basically have to buy a whole new system, or new panels and a new inverter and then tie the new panels in with the old. It's such a big project that I only want to do it once, but our kids are still growing and we only have one of the two vehicles electric. Our needs will continue to grow and I don't want to install a new PV system every year. So, with all that said, with the Tesla solar roof, can they just swing by, as necessary, and swap out a few of those inactive panels for active ones as electricity demand increases over time?
@SeedVisual3 жыл бұрын
You can definitely expand on an existing system, and swap out non producing tiles with producing tiles. Its best to max it out from the get go to keep installation costs down, but yes it can be done.
@aaronbounds13363 жыл бұрын
@@SeedVisual For sure. I wanted to get a much bigger system when we first installed it, but local laws, so says Tesla, only allow for a household to install a system that meets 100% of their previous 12-months' usage. If I had the choice, I would have installed a system double the size, and grown into it over time rather than the other way around.

Interesting. The neighbourhood shown has next to no mature trees around the houses. My question is, should people consider cutting down healthy, mature trees, that shade the house, in order to maximize roof area for a solar roof? (Or even just solar panels on the roof?) I know many MANY neighbourhoods where houses large and small have beautiful tree canopies. Even in the winter, when there are no leafs... snow covered branches can block out a decent chunk of sun... along with a snow covered roof. ;) In my city, there are many new neighbourhoods being built, and all the properties have young trees being planted... with the goal of these trees growing to be huge and ultimately covering roofs, and yards. While I'm all for solar roofs, and panels, I don't know what the trade-off here is, for lots with mature trees or future mature trees. How can these home owners keep their trees yet make use of solar roofs?
@SeedVisual3 жыл бұрын
In order to produce the most energy possible, it is best to have a clear sky above your south facing panels. I understand that this might not be viable or worth the trade off of removing beautiful trees. Every home is different. Solar works great for many, but not all.
@mnomadvfx Жыл бұрын
Depends how tall the trees are vs how tall the house is. IMHO if people could loosen their aesthetic obsessed sphyncters and consider putting solar panels on stilts above the house then they could have it all. To say that we are leaving a huge potential of untapped solar power on the table is an understatement.

Great solar roof and what is the cost for the solar roof in tx. I have subscribed too Thanks
@SeedVisual3 жыл бұрын
The price varies. It all comes down to complexity of the install, how much energy you use, and if you are going with storage features as well. Those factors make the price range vary pretty substantially. If I had to make a guess, you are looking at a minimum of $40,000. The only real way to know is to have free a consultation. Use the link below to get in touch with GFE to get a quote today.

Did you find the solar roof useful during your balckouts.
@SeedVisual3 жыл бұрын
Because this system is equipped with a Tesla Powerwall, it was able to not only produce enough energy to run the house, but also was sending some energy back to the grid during the days it was storming.
@evanseesred3 жыл бұрын
Beware. We have had an absolutely terrible experience with Tesla Solar roofing. This is not ready for prime time. I’d highly recommend going with a more established solar provider, at least until they work out the major kinks. A roof is something that will last you decades, ideally, so you wanna make sure you’re going with a company that isn’t figuring it out as they go. Buyer beware.
@mistywassink6853 жыл бұрын
Super...how much energy does it produce?

So u dont need powerwall with solar roof? Pls explain, thanku in advance
@SeedVisual3 жыл бұрын
It works much better if you have the combination of both the Solar Roof plus Powerwalls, but no, you do not have to have both. Without the Powerwalls, you simply use the amount of energy being produced. This means that you would have power during the day, but would still need to rely on the grid at night.
