Teslas are so cool. Can't wait until battery technology allows a Tesla to go 1000 miles or more on a single charge. I'm so sick of my gas vehicle. Tired of the creepy people at gas stations. Tired of the dirtiness of gas pumps. Tired of the cost. Tired of oil changes, fuel filters and all the garbage that comes with gas vehicles.

@truetech4158
@truetech4158 5 жыл бұрын
@@bradbond07 well clearly there is no god that earthlings didn't invent, though i can understand martin's wanting to be able to travel very far distances as if it was nothing, because people really only do have a limited lifespan to work with. It would be nice to be able to have the vehicle drive itself the 1000 miles as everyone slept. Maybe even going off on it's own to make deliveries for those times when you didn't want to be on the road. Then the costs of shipping or driving fatigue would be greatly reduced for everyone.

having had the long range model 3 for almost 10 months, 10k+ miles, I could have gone with the standard range and never had a problem. this range anxiety is a real thing if you are buying an EV that can't fast charge, if you get a tesla it almost a non factor and after a trip or two you don't even think about it. we are planning a 2-3 month road trip and having autopilot etc there is not any other car I would prefer to take, even if I had an unlimited budget.

The last thing Elon said about more cells being ready for model y was the most important thing said IMO. Wish Ryan had pushed him about how many cells whether it is only enough for the cars or also for ramping up power pack and power walls production. How many calls will be made in China from now on would also have been interesting? Great interview, Ryan.

@@Guy-ky9mc If you are referring to the Maxwell dry electrode tech that apparently has a lot of potential to speed up production and maybe increase energy density 2 or 3 fold. It does not make dry cells though, they will still utilise a lithium rich electrolyte that is just as wet as it ever was. Solid state cells are another thing, they have yet to appear in production quantities, as far as I know Tesla has no plans to make those but I'm sure they are keeping an eye on developments.

Because for the model S, Tesla outsourced alot of the technology from German car makers. That's good that car companies are collaborative in this effort to a sustainable future for all. just saying. constructive criticism vs. just a bunch of positive all the time is good too. lol nice analogy: "you're like a shepherd, tending the flock, you're not the sheep" In reference to someone in the future buying a self driving fleet, piece by piece, to run their own "uber" service some day, instead of just driving for uber using your own time.

When you consider that this interview was done at a time when Elon had really serious concerns on a number of levels, it becomes even a little more impressive.

I know Elon is correct when he says vehicles stay on the road 15-20 years today, BUT, if fully autonomous robotaxis hit the streets in sufficiently large numbers, I think they will be able to undercut the fuel/insurance/maintenance costs of ICE vehicles, and send many to an early retirement.

Cell capacity coming online right when the Y launches. I'd like to dig into that more. Panasonic is "pausing investment" so no new lines. Is he talking about adding the Maxwell tech into the production process and scaling it up?

Wow.....lucky you....this was awesome....thank you! One thing to consider....he mentioned that a pickup has to come in under $40,000, but that is in today's market, I'm assuming everything will scale accordingly as I assume the pick won't be on the streets for about 2 years or so. Great podcast...thank you!

@@modrus ah...I think my thought still holds though....in a quick peek on the web, looks like a 2019 Ford F150 is between about $29k - $63k now, in the Chicago area....

55:17 If the Tesla network was unbranded or rebranded under a different name then other manufactures would very like be asking to use Tesla's network. Having their cars constantly pull up to next to a Tesla sign isn't something they would want their customers doing.

Pride comes before a fall. If they want to ignore the offer, it's their loss. I expect Tesla to convert to CCS in the new year as the EA network reaches reasonable numbers, providing useful backup for Tesla, as in Europe.

Wow Awesome; :) Ryan, and Elon! At Palo Alto HQ. Unreal. Thank you for your time, details and very frank exchanges of info !! Very well done. Elon; I'm a Proud Shareholder and will remain so. Lng$TSLA--:) Very much looking Fwd, to the Truck unveil in Q3 and Giga#3-commissioning. These are very challenging times; but exciting times to be part of the Tesla family. I recently drove the M3-performance in BC. This car sets the 'standard' for other OEM's to strive for... Looking Fwd to our next mtg in California ! :)

I thought the same thing, I'm curious to know when he thinks we will see Maxwell tech in Teslas. Additionally we have heard what Maxwell technologies thinks their tech is capable of but I'd be curious to hear what Elon thinks is possible and what we can expect to see in the upcoming years.

@@nickg2691 Interesting point, the Maxwell website used to show batteries as well as Supercaps. All mention of batteries has been removed. That's good FUD suppression. (Sooner than you think.... In my opinion)
