My favourite scene from Tess of the D'urbervilles. Both from the 1998 film version and BBC's 2008 mini-drama.

The 2008 version with Eddie Redmayne cuts out a LOT of the stuff from the books because they had to squeeze the whole story into 4 episodes. But that doesn't mean it's not good, if you haven't seen it yet, it's definitely worth a watch :)

The 2008 version was better. "Three Leah's to get one Rachel". The 1998 version left out Retty.

I absolutely love the 2008 one better I love Eddie Redmayne who plays angel but I havent read the book yet. Is the 2008 version not at all like the book with the way he carries tess and says what he does?

in comparison to the novel, I would say the 2008 version is the better between the two :) Angel actually does lift Tess suddenly and most of the dialogue is word for word
