Yeah as someone who’s parents were getting divorce at 11 almost 12 to 12 almost 13 and around the time of this movie I really feel for her and this Bop like pay just the tiniest bit of positive attention to your child once and a while they’d greatly appreciate more than a child should have to.

Ibrahim + Life same but I felt bad for her that her mom was to focused on her phone call than watching the performance I honestly think the song was about her mom since she’s a star and Tess was trying to be and the song is about a broken family. As someone who had divorce parents at 11 almost 12 I really feel for her. We never saw her dad but it seems like he either died or the parents got a divorce and her grief or anger cause her to get to busy with her work and not have even the slightest time for her daughter. That’s why I love Britney Spears she seems to really balance perfectly being a mother and a singer.

This is a song from the movie that I like a lot more now than I did when I was younger. On the surface it seems like she's singing about Shane, but really it's about how she feels ignored and neglected by her mother, and wishes they had a closer relationship. Really well-written song and one of my favorites from the movie. I also find it interesting that Meaghan Martin sounds good here, but not on Too Cool

Second I feel so bad for Tess because she was trying to please her super cool popular superstar mom and then her mom gets a call and just gets on the phone and stops paying attention and that's gotta hurt. Her face, she looks so sad when she sees her mom on the phone and she just keeps going.

I'm very sure a lot of us never liked Tess's character overall, but once this song and her mother hit, it became very clear why she acts the way she does. Her mother was always too busy with her work to ever give her the motherly attention she's looking for.
