Cadillacs are the best cars. My grandparents owned a '90 Sedan DeVille and a '98 Sedan DeVille. Every time we went somewhere, I always wanted to ride in their Cadillac. Somehow I am not a huge fan of the newer Cadillacs nowdays. The older ones seem more classy and stand out better.
@adesorcuppy42257 жыл бұрын
That for sure. The older ones were the real deal. Something happened ard. end 90ies with all American cars, whether Chevys, Buicks, Lincoln, Ford, Chrysler or Cadillacs, they don't look the same anymore. They look more European or Asian....My friends dad had a Cadillac Seville early 80ies and I also loved the ride in that car.. Good old days.

My grandparents had a 90 sedan deville and a 99 sedan deville. They had others before that. Those are the ones I remember. They bought them new. My mother got the 90 when they got the 99 and she totaled it. My grandmother got hit and flipped the 99. She got a 97 deville after that and drove it till the northstar blew a head gasket

I agree, I live in Seattle and I commute a lot. Company will pay my gas bills for transportation for whatever I drive. I chose this 1997 Cadillac Deville in wonderful simply beautiful Royal Exotic Blue with matching interior color. I installed a backup camera and new HD stereo with Apple Car Play. And Remote start. Only has 11K miles. I bought from original owner for 5K cash! Garaged and clean title. I’m a young guy owning and driving this everyday and it’s the best car I ever owned.

What great cars these are. Very well built and last a long time IF properly maintained and cared for. The Northstar V8 engines were one of GM's best performance engines being 32 Valve and DOHC put into Cadillac's and other GM cars. I grew up around these cars my entire life and really appreciate them more and more as I see Cadillac completely changing into something different today. My parents still drive their 1995 Seville SLS with the Northstar and it has over 300k on it today being bought back in 1999. Its never given us any problems and has been the least problematic of all the cars we ever owned including older Cadillac's. I hope this Deville goes to the right owner and appreciates Cadillac's!

I had one of these and I loved it, my all time favorite car! It was dark green and had the Concourse wheels. only sad part was I wore it out. You use a bit of oil with the Northstar and you have to watch your engine fluids and Temp, you dont' want to overheat that engine. but the car got 26 to 27 MPG on the Freeway at 70MPH and that was in California with our special gas.
Once you drive a Cadillac you dont want others ,all other cars i had,i think,No this is less comfort driving and cheaper feeling

North Stars are notorious head gasket blowers at around 90k but once you repair them they are great engines
@starxlr78639 жыл бұрын
+David Anderson They are notorious because of bad maintenance and coolant going acidic which eats away at the head gasket. Most of GM cars and trucks around these years had the exact same problem. The Northstar is the best performance engine Cadillac made for the newer era. I work on these cars and I own three of them and they are fantastic. And like you said once repaired they are excellent and last a very long time.
@manifesto20008 жыл бұрын
1997-1999 had bolts that were too short - other Northstars - according to what I have heard do not have this problem.
@starxlr78638 жыл бұрын
Alan Blanes This was the years of when Dexcool was introduced and that was the biggest problem. Its when the coolant turns acidic and eats away at the gasket and leaks around the bolts which corrodes them. Because when they are maintained properly, this problem never happens. And all GM engines used TTY Head bolts. Even the GM Duramac engines must use Head studs when the coolant has weakened the bolt threads.
@starxlr78637 жыл бұрын
Honestly, a Cadillac should remain to be powered by none other than CADILLAC and not using any other cookie cutter, off the shelf driveline that you find in every other GM vehicle. The Northstar driveline was the best powertrain ever out into a Cadillac and is still to this day the longest production V8 produced by Cadillac!

There's something about these 90's Caddys that is just cool. They have a bit of the old style to them. But, not to the garish degree the 70's and 80's wrought and unlike their higher performing, German competition, they're relatively easy to live with as their maintenance is similar to other GM cars from the time (Mercedes and BMW parts are priced like fine jewelry). But, they tended to have an excellent quality of build and a wonderfully soothing driving character. I love European cars for their nimble nature. But, their cost of ownership and snob factor just can't really touch the imposing sense of cool and calm this and the Fleetwood had. Expect well maintained examples of this to start climbing in price soon.

@starxlr78638 жыл бұрын
The seats in the 94-99 used a softer foam cushion. But the 2000-11 Deville/DTS are just as comfortable. The seats in the newer ones are more contoured for your body and use the same leather as previous years. Overall interior quality of all 90s and 2000s Deville's are great. Just a personal preference. I prefer the 2000+ Deville's myself.

I was about 21 when I had my DeVille. I liked the power, but don't trust the Northstar engine ('99 was the year of mine). It's a shame, it had very low miles for the year and was in great shape. Got it for a great price too. Heater never did work right though, and it liked to run hot - which is the typical coolant problem of Northstars. Other than that it's a shame, only had 275 HP (Not the 300 HP) but my god, it kicked down so hard I was surprised.

The main thing with these cars is that you must take good care of the cooling system. Make sure you always have anti freeze and the water pump and radiator and bla bla bla is all working efficiently at all times. Under no circumstance do you EVER let the northstar engine overheat. They are all aluminum therefore the heads warp easily. Kick ass cars though!!
