This is the nicest Nova I've seen so far, and I've seen a lot. The Slotted wheels are perfect! love that it has the original (Small) tach, which means it was originally a manual. And I love the Color!

My Dad owned a 1969 Nova SS/396 that was also Cortez Silver with a black Vinyl Roof, chrome hood inserts, buckets W/Center console but it was an Automatic car.. Bought it new from what is now Jackson Chevrolet Buick GMC in LaFayette, GA.. He told me that he loved to drive it only on days that it didn't rain & made him a nervous wreck on days when it did.. It was his daily driver so he was nervous quite a few days out of the 2 years he owned it ( The main reason he parted ways with it ) .. ; - ) Going to send him a link to your video so he can walk down memory lane..

So, my uncle has said once or twice that he'd give me his baby- a 1969 Chevy Nova that he's restored and torn apart numerous times throughout my life. Today, while we were going to the auto parts store because he was teaching me how to change brake pads/rotors, he showed me the song "Red Barchetta" by Rush which is, if you didn't know, about an uncle giving his nephew a classic car that he restored to glory in a time where it's been forgotten. So, in my eyes, this pretty much solidified that I'm getting that car. Story time over now, it doesn't have power steering. What's it like driving without power steering?

You can tell this isn't a factory big block 396 car because the car still has a factory small block heater core/box in it. The big block cars had the heater hoses in the center of the heater box. This car could in fact be a real SS car, but it was born a small block car.
@bobbrinkerhoff3592 Жыл бұрын
I couldn't have said it any better ! Surprised that all of the experts on here that have claimed to have owned a big block Nova didn't catch the wrong heater .

***** I had a beautiful 62,6cyl,3 on the tree,that sat in my Grandfathers garage for 6 years,with 3000 miles on it. When he passed away,my Grandmother gave it to me,but I was only 14 at the time,so my Father drove it for 2 years.until I was old enough to drive.It was a sky blue/powder blue,hardtop convertible,it had no "B" Pillars.I guess that's what they called it.That was so long ago,wish I still had it.

Very nicely done. I owned a turquoise '70 BB as well. It was surprisingly fast. A set of headers, a bit of cam, Carb/Intake & it flew. They had power steering & front disc brakes, to they were great street strip cars that didn't cost a fortune. I miss it.

Makes me cry for not having the foresight to keep mine. Bought off the show room floor in 69 same engine with Cortez silver. Just an idiot 24 year old. Also bought a new 66 Nova SS before this one.

Joe...I hear you man! I had three true original SS Nova's My first was a 1971 then a 1969 I bought a 1966 SS with a straight six that was cool to. I was 24 years old as well, didn't have any idea what these cars might be worth someday.
@joebrown13827 жыл бұрын
Yeh both mine were SS. I sold the 66 to buy a 68 Vette roadster NEW. God I wish I would have kept one. Hindsight is 20/20.

Joe Brown I had 69 Identical to this car except it was red and someone dropped a 500hp 327 Vette motor in it. One day going around a corner that I drove all the time (not even a sharp corner) my drivers side rear shock which was welded on to the traction bars broke off. The car broke loose and I went sideways across the other lane and over an 80ft cliff. I was going about 60mph and when I reached the bottom there was nothing left of it. To this day I miss that car and that was 35 years ago.

I nearly bought one of these back in the day I went to test drive with my Dad and I gave it a pretty hard go it was very impressive so after I asked my Dad what he thought of it and he said if I didn't get that one I should get one just like it. Well I didn't get it but I ended up with a 70 Chevelle SS a few years later.

Listen to that nice squeaky noise when he pushes in on the clutch pedal to shift. That's classic...i remember all standard shift cars made that noise back in time...Nice
@RamblinAround11 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that is a line lock on the shifter and it works well. I was surprised to see manifolds too...I guess he didn't want the hassle of tightening header bolts all the time. I'd definitely throw them on there right away if it was mine.

I had a 70 nova with 327, 4 speed Muncie M21, close ratio box. It was bright orange w/bulk decal “Heavy Chevy” at the back. Only seen 1 other. Not sure if it was a rare one Korea’s just a stripe kit? It was fun to drive, no power accessories at all. No radios, a/c , ps, Pb... nothing. Armstrong steering. Fun car for San Diego. Loved the hatchback style.

Silver looks the least dirty when unwashed, but doesn't shine up as well when washed and waxed, like darker colors do, esp black. For some reason they are the color of vehicle least likely to be the victim of a collision.

I love your videos, keep up the good reporting on these beautiful cars. P.S. I love that most of your videos have the price of the car, and not making us jump through hoops searching the same place that you are showing the car from, for the price on another site. For example, Vanguard Motor sales, and Flemmings, usually a 20 minute video, same scripted video for every car, no price, then, google their site, and, search through their inventory to find the car you just saw on a video for a price, I avoid any and all of their videos at all cost.
