Hi just a point on the discussion about the autofocus at around 3:40, it was my understanding that the GFX50R doesn't have phase detection autofocus at all.

it never ceases to amaze me that so many photographer are stuck on wide aperture exposures...hey stop down and get the most out of sharpness..

Great review but note this adaptor has quite a few limitations. Have you become aware of the Smart adaptor version which apparently supports autofocus?

Thank you for this video. I'm Nikon shooter as well, but many times I feel the temptation of GFX 100s. If my existing line of Sigma and Tamron lenses could work with it, that would be great, since I could use them and getting a camera body and adapter is cheaper than buying additional lenses as well.

Thanks ! So we need to choose between modern and vintage for the next video, I wanted to do the super Takumar 50mm 1.4 but I also have the 50 1.4 sigma art which I love !
@scottelly23 жыл бұрын
@@ektar_100 I would love to see that. I have a 55mm f1.8 Super Takumar and the 50mm f1.4 Art for my Sigma SD1 Merrill. They are both great lenses, but the Sigma does auto-focus well, while the old Asahi lens is manual focus, of course (but a lot smaller, so it does have its advantages).

Thank you for sharing! I am more interested about the 50mm 1.4. Is that one covering the sensor entirely, or do you need to remove some vignetting as well? Thanks!
@ektar_1002 жыл бұрын
I have the 50 and 35 art in Nikon mount too, they work quite well too ! It does cover the sensor however the vignetting is more pronounced and much darker in the extreme corners so a bit harder to remove I would say !

@luludelasnubes3 жыл бұрын

Have you tried the Fuji 110mm f2? If so, how does the image quality compare? It seems like the Sigma could be bought at a much better price, but the lack of good AF would make the Fuji native lens a better choice, especially if it's sharper and has better bokeh. The Sigma is longer though, and for portraits that might make it better.
@PeacePham19913 жыл бұрын
Looks like the Sigma 105mm f/1.4 is a good option too. No vignette, sharp, and outstanding bokeh. I'm not sure about the auto focus www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/4396870

Yeah I have the 110 f2 and 32-64, the 110 is a stunning lens but in my opinion what you can get with the 135 (haven’t tried the 105 art yet) is incredible for the price, even if you add the AF adapter in the basket. They are very near in terms of IQ but the 110 is sharp corner to corner without any vignetting and CA is absent. The AF is correct but I only have the 50R wich lack pdaf so if you are into 100 or 100s I would go for the 110 Fuji, if budget is really tight and you want images that you can’t get without this kind of configuration go with sigma art and a simple adapter, MF is a pleasure on art lenses.

Thanks for sharing! Can the aperture value be changed on the GFX body? Or just through the aperture ring on the steelsring adapter?
@ektar_1003 жыл бұрын
hi, as I understand the last line of modern nikkor lenses (the E lineup) dont have the mechanical lever for aperture control and this 135mm from sigma is the same and yes the adapter allow you to precisely control the aperture on gfx body. For other lenses like the nikkor G lineup wich have the lever you have adjust the aperture with the mechanical ring on the adapter. But on sigma ART lenses it depends on the lense as I have the mechanical lever on the 50mm 1.4 (so aperture adjust via ring on adapter) and not on the 135mm 1.8. Hope this help :)

Sorry for the very late reply, I think it work quite well for what it is and it’s updated by fringer. At 500e not really but at 300e I do recommend it !

@@ektar_100 hello there! I bought the adapter after your video and it is kind good in focusing with the adapted lenses. My only problem is I can't change the aperture from the body even with lenses it should work. Sometimes it works for a minute and then goes back to nothing. Do you have any idea why this happens? thank you.

Very nice vidéo! But you can't compare the 50mm Sigma art with Nikon G 50mm, they're just not in the same galaxy of price (and the Nikon is just fantastic for what it costs;) ).
