this is my fav tune of theirs. the Test Icicles band invented nu-rave. I bought their album and I remember when I first listened to it I thought I was going to either go deaf or have a mental breakdown.

In February 2006, the band announced they were splitting up. In an interview with NME in March 2006, Hynes claimed that "we were never, ever that keen on the music. I understand that people liked it, but we personally, er, didn't." for all you that wanted to know why they split =]

@IGotProducedIn198916 жыл бұрын
this is the reason why they split - it's because actually none of them wanted to make the music they made (although they kind of hit the zeitgeist!) - at least that's what they said in interviews

history of music: In 2005 a genius and unique Test Icicles releases their first single and a debut album.Very soon they turn out to be precursors giving a birth to new rave, they actually invents the whole indie style with their punky, frivolous and chick style. Unfortunately guys from TI give up far too quickly letting down their fans and forcing the world to wait for some analogous sound entire 2 years!!! Luckily nowdays we have Late of the pier, klaxons, copycats, Shitdisco etc.
@Niamic16 жыл бұрын
no, Ratattag doesn't exist anymore! Rory's new band is called Kasms, they're noisy,but pretty cool. And Lightspeed Champion isn't bad either! I just wished we'd hear something from lovely Sam again soon...

Huh, my comment sounds really dickish. I mean, I stand by what I said, but I don't know why I said it like that. Anyway, yeah, they have had a huge impact on fashion - go into Topman now and it's pretty much just a choice between "Libertines" and "Test Icicles" - but they still weren't Nu Rave, willstar. Synths and skinny jeans are all over the place. The neon is the only really solid link.

+Ashley Barcus I don't know about the rest of them, but the guitarist, "Devonte Hynes", has been doing a lot of stuff. No where near the same genre as Test Icicles, but if you're into a wide spectrum of music. You may want to check him out unless you already have. He's currently doing "Blood Orange", but his past project, "Lightspeed Champion", was pretty amazing as well.
