Taylor must pass the class in order to maintain his scholarship and the Professor makes this very difficult for him. He gives the young man a special assignment that he must write in order to get a passing grade: abandon your faith or fail the class! This movie shows good character in how Taylor handles the situation.

Evolution makes sense in the context of God. A wise creator who refines and crafts the universe over time. I've never had a problem with evolution, only people that believe in it as gospel truth when it too has holes in it. At least with Christ we know he was here, we know he died outside Jerusalem, and as stated he had eye witnesses

I am so thankful for my time at varsity and for my lecturer that taught creationism and evolution. The varsity curriculum allowed us to debate the concepts and write our papers and exams with the freedom to come to our own conclusion and we were marked only on our reasoning and citing of the tenets of the two. That was freedom of speech in practice. And I was able to share my faith in debate and in my assignments and exams as a result. Thank you Wits University, South Africa! David Robey, who plays the part of Professor Heinlein very convincingly, was my freshman year Speech teacher at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee, 1974-1975! Although I only pulled a C+, I loved his class, and he had a great sense of humor which often left us laughing so hard! He was a great teacher, a very godly man, had a powerful and beautiful tenor singing voice as a frequent church soloist at Highland Park Baptist Church which governed the school, and he loved sharing the gospel with others! Sadly, I learned only today through a Google search that, after a brief illness, he passed away in 2017 at age 69. I'm thankful for the impact he had on my life, and am looking forward to seeing him in Heaven someday!

Yes, an excellent movie. What I have found through life is that, there are some people who can only make their case stand by putting others down, ie, Faith, Jesus Christ, the person standing opposite them, and so on, and I think that's what this professor was doing. Thank God Mr Mitchell was knowledgeable enough to stand up to him. I only wish I could do the same, well done 👏 ✔️

David Robey, who plays the part of Professor Heinlein very convincingly, was my freshman year Speech teacher at Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee, 1974-1975! Although I only pulled a C+, I loved his class, and he had a great sense of humor which often left us laughing so hard! He was a great teacher, a very godly man, had a powerful and beautiful tenor singing voice as a frequent church soloist at Highland Park Baptist Church which governed the school, and he loved sharing the gospel with others! Sadly, I learned only today through a Google search that, after a brief illness, he passed away in 2017 at age 69. I'm thankful for the impact he had on my life, and am looking forward to seeing him in Heaven someday!

May the Lord help me to stand up for my faith. I used to share Christ with others but because I had backslidden and involved myself in ungodly relationships I no longer the person I used to be although I have repented and turned back to the Lord. Only the Lord can restore me but it's not easy.

When he says. I don't know you! He's addressing those who think they have to earn salvation by good works. Works based salvation. It's by believing and trusting in the finished work of what he did for us on the cross. None of us are perfect until we receive our new glorified bodies.

In fact , proper theology and hermeneutic study is also that we must consider the context of the verse which means we read several verses before and several verses after . Scripture explains scripture. It isnt just those who are of works righteous mentality ( which is a false gospel ie (rcc,jw,lds,sda,oneness pentecostal, etc) but ALL who are workers of iniquity. It was those that did not abide in the word! God prunes our unfruitful works, nothing to do with salvation at all. You are preaching yet another cleverly repackaged version of faith plus works equals salvation nonsense here. Becoming a new creation in Christ isn't possible, because flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of heaven. In our flesh dwelleth no good thing, "My bread is My flesh, which I will give for the Life of the world." " (All )old things are passed away, all things have become new.". It's possible to walk in the Spirit ,but be in your own flesh. His flesh abiding in us and if we abide in Him, and He in God , is a narrower way then most people know. God bless, ask the Holy Spirit to teach you John 6, read and reread and meditate on His WORD that is His flesh. You will find the narrow way, but the yoke is easy and burden is light. I tested myself gambling. I was no longer sinning , but free of the devil's control. His flesh doesn't obey the devil, or do drugs, you choose it and lust controls us but was put to death for us by His suffering in the flesh We think the suffering will be very hard for us also, but taking it with His flesh in me, is a continuous supply. Some call it grace reigning where sin reigns, grace abounds but the only victory I found after many struggles is eating His flesh. Ask God for His wisdom in Christ. If you are really actually reaching Jesus and then to the Father, He will give you His flesh to eat. Many anti Christ's are in the world. God's WORD that became flesh, has exceeding great power which missionaries need to be consecrated so when they are tempted to do drugs the Spirit isn't leading them to, it's the devil they are yielding to. So throw out drugs and liquor ,lying and fornication , when tempted obey the flesh of Jesus from inside of you, say no, stand strong, don't follow the crowd if you go to a party be careful , say no and flee if you are mocked by your friends, to show them Christ in you is what matters most. They will come to respect you, and sense His power , also. Unless they hate Jesus they might follow you going on a mission trip and try to traffic you, sell you for prostitution, or life in a brothel. And also, watch out for Swashstak bigfoots or be eaten because you truly never repented, or are living in your own flesh , haven't put it to death and given Christ your all. After all you just wanted to have a little fun didn't you?
