Had to search KZbin for instructions. Am grateful for your video. I'm very impressed with this tooling and Veiko's other tools. Never could buy into the blue plastic crap. Once this jig is unpacked and understood a little box about 15% the volume of the original carton is better for in-a-drawer storage. Thanks again.

Love the enthusiasm combined with professional insight in your videos! I've become a firm fan :) one question - how do you go about aligning the holes/brackets that the hinge attaches to on the carcass?

Great information do you set always at 3mm for mdf @ 18mm. I thought you did another video when you mentioned 4mm. I just want to check before I start I may be using a kreg or a trend jig using gtv hinges. Hope you can answer 👍

Hi, I don't think that 1mm makes a huge difference . Maybe meet in the middle 3.5mm 😊👍 Again it's not critical but 3-4 mm will work 👍

Thank you for your review, it was very helpful. It seems well made. I was hoping it would also have a way to drill the holes for the mounting plates on the cabinets - then it would do everything. It still seems like a nice jig though.

@tbc210 Bought one of these recently and mine does have holes at 32mm spacing for the mounting plate. Updated version i believe.

It looks like it's firmly placed between the kreg and the blum ecodrill. Try the blum and you won't look back.

At about a 1/3 of the price of a Blum or hettich one, good value. It’s got room for improvement over the top end ones. Depending on the size of the doors, thickness of cupboard carcass and hinge used 4.5mm is a required set back. I would have liked a variable stop to the top or bottom of door included. The dust extraction has not been thought about. A corresponding hinge plate jig to align back plate on carcass is needed to complete the set.

I’ve had one of these jigs for a while. I am not constantly doing Euro hinges and do take my time over fitting them (largely through lack of practice). I’ve never had to worry about that 0.5mm setback; I’m not saying it’s not required but I have been okay using a 3mm but more usually a 4mm or 5mm setback. I understand the point about a variable top and bottom position stop but, again, I’ve not come across a situation where I needed anything different than the jig allows. I can see that if you are fitting new doors to an old carcass (or vice versa), then you might need to vary that stop position but that’s not been a requirement for me. So far. Inevitably, it does come down to quality, accuracy, features and price. I have had no issues with the quality; I’ve dropped it once with no issues. Accuracy or perhaps better repeatability of accuracy has been good for me. Features - additional like-to-haves have been mentioned although their absence hasn’t bothered me but might be an issue for some. Price is really the result of the combination of the first 3. No point to the jig at all if it’s not high quality or inaccurate whilst additional features would presumably mean higher price for all whilst not needed by many/most. I no longer have any hesitation about buying Veiko. None of their tools has in any way been inferior; perhaps I have been lucky with that. The costs remain a fraction of equivalent US branded products. Why? I don’t know. All are made on CNC machines (therefore the labour content is small) using aluminium which is a global priced product. I can’t imagine the different shipping costs from US to UK or China to UK is that big a deal. The inevitable question seems to be - are Veiko selling at a loss or companies such as Woodpeckers making huge profits? Do Woodpeckers, Incra, Kreg etc. have to sell at their prices in order to make a sustainable profit? Or have they calculated that there are enough people to pay for their brands at the high prices such that selling more product but a lower price would actually mean lower total profit? I dislike pretty much everything about the political situation in China. We are stupid to allow China to buy up companies who own so much of the worlds raw materials (Australia). We would be dumb to allow Chinese companies to supply strategic products to us (telephony, military materiel). However, their current actions bear comparison to many of the actions being taken now, or in the near past, by Western countries. We are not whiter than white; people on glass houses should not throw stones. But, should I boycott all Chinese made goods? That would seem to mean that I can buy nothing which has chips in them for instance. I made much the same comment in another reply. I was told quite forcefully by someone that I had to buy products made in US or UK or wherever apart from China otherwise my children will only have jobs available in McDonalds. I don’t know if that respondent held shares in Incra or the like but the notion that I should pay, in my opinion, unnecessarily high prices to make US or UK companies high profits is just daft. Unless you are a billionaire and costs mean nothing to your budget; not many of them doing woodwork. Apart from the London Craftsman.

2:25 there's only one screw for the lateral stop position because you'll never need two at the same time. Either you butt it up against the top of the door to drill a hole, or the bottom. A second screw would be in the way.

Thanks for your input. These tools were bought with my own money. You need to remember nobody pays to get my time and knowledge, unless you would like to join membership and contribute??? I am sharing a product in which I am extremely happy with and would like to let other woodworkers know about it. I do earn a VERY small amount of commission from anyone who does buy through my links, and considering at least 8 -10 hours of my life goes into the planning, making and editing of each single video I make (for free), I don't think earning a little, every now and then is something I should be ashamed of doing. Again membership is available if you feel I should constantly do how to videos. Many thanks Ryan
