I know that road so well I used to go to the arla dairy in Settle. 2 trips a night, back to Trafford Park. I'm having the 1st service down in Plymouth booked a mini break down there. Brixham. I've eventually sorted quadlok. As for My Ride? Only done 120 miles so it needs a run. Enjoyed the video, I never put the adventure in the equation shame its probably the best of the best.

Its the best if you have pillion. To me it lacks guts and sharpness compared to the GT

Great review. The older model is much better looking than the new one IMHO. I think the lower centre of gravity with the split tank will tempt quite a few GS owners so long as the roasting bollocks problem has been solved by the new split radiator and they have improved the overall reliability. Pity KTM don't show more faith and offer a 3 year warranty.
@stevesherlockrides3 жыл бұрын
Yep a good point re the warranty. Yes also I think the bike should be able to compete with the GS, I would defo go that way

My BMW friends have more problems than I have with the KTM 1290 SAS, which now has 10‘500 km. And I had a BMW before, it was definitely not more reliable or better in terms of maintenance

Can I ask how tall you are and was there any buffeting from the screen? Got a GT myself at the moment but thinking about one of these. 👍

I'm 6ft 1 and the buffeting was significantly less than on the GT. If fact the screen performance was one of the things I really noticed as exceptionally good.

@@stevesherlockrides thanks Steve...I am fine with the GT screen....but I had an older Super Adventure and that shook my head side to side something rotten. Not surprised that you mate had an aftermarket screen on his SA👍
@delk50243 жыл бұрын
@@Hemlck I will agree after a test ride. My 1190 adventure caused major head shake no matter what I tried. The new one is much better regarding turbulence but could be slightly taller to help with wind noise if you use comms. Fit an MRA vario screen. They are brilliant.

I was really pleased to come across thus review, I'd been looking for a comparison, I have a 2020 SAS and love it after 9yrs with various BMWS. I have a test ride on Saturday on the new SAS but after watching this I'm tempted to hang on a while and see what the new GT is like, or at least try a GT. Thanks again.

Good video, enjoyed the watch! :) I've only just got the 2018 version and I've never enjoyed a bike more. It's good to know there's an even better one out there now.

Yes it fells massively lighter than the previously model. My microphone gave up later so my conclusions video wasn't used as I rode the older version.

The 2018 excited me, too. But now the 2022 model is much more refined, and the ACC is second to none. Still there’s the excitement, ….. but there’s now much more comfort and latest tech

Brilliant review. I test rode one on Thursday. The overal bike is much better than the previous one. Smooth but aggressive when you want it. Really fast. Cruising at motorway speeds is very comfortable. One big thing that put me off though is the rubbish switch gear. Its like they blew the whole budget on everything else and then realised they had forgotten the buttons. So cheap and flimsy and almost impossible to tell if you have pushed them with gloves on especially the indicator. The sales person also said there is already a known issue where the seat wont stay in its higher setting, not good for a brand new bike. If it wasn't for the switchgear I would have put a deposit down.
@stevesherlockrides3 жыл бұрын
I'm inclined to agree. Its the same switch gear off the new SD R. My mate John in the vid picked his new one up today and were off the scotlans for 8 days thrashing at the end ifApril. Lets hoe it holds up

@@stevesherlockrides Sounds like fun, not jealous at all... If you dont mind I would really appreciate his feedback after the trip regarding the switchgear please.

I bought one of the first 1190s, plenty of issues I had to fix. Learnt my lesson and said I'd never buy the first iteration of a model from KTM again. Bought myself a new 2020 SAS dirt cheap instead
@daviddavis6618 Жыл бұрын
I bought the new 1290 SAS, and also the heated ERGO seats with it, these don’t have the problem of dropping down into the lower position. (Both ERGO seats are needed to look good) The switch gear can be adjusted, and the tech pack is great. Don’t worry about these details, the bike is great fun!!!

If I was to ride a thousand mile unsupported adventure ride through South America give me a low tech KLR every day. Anything with that much tech is bond to fail on any real extensive adventure ride. But it would be a nice bike for shorter supported adventure rides.
