Hi what a bad day for me 1st I forgot my gloves but Norton lent me a pair then halfway through the ride my GoPro goes into warp speed again which there replacing otherwise an excellent ride very good bike premium Finish just then few issues that they know about which are getting rectified before the new ones get delivered.

I'm not knocking you're review Derek, well done for getting your hands on one, the GoPro failure was really unfortunate. Perfectly aligned to the " Garage Queen" market, bought by classic enthusiasts for the occasional Sunday tootle to the local biker café. "It's a bit vibratey" I love that, all other reviewers referred to it as "Character full". Nothing like a couple of yoghurt pots to finish off the "Premium" look 😕 At least it'll cope well in side winds, you could drive an artic through those gapping chasms. Sure they've done a decent job with the looks and finish in places but haven't half skimped on others. Some folk will buy them and love them and no doubt Norton will deliver but sorry they're not delivering enough for me.

Hi Paul yes they said when I got back when I told them there all be sorted out before the buyers receive them in the first quarter of next year a chance in a million to ride this bike and my GoPro played up the rides good even got that vibration feeling under the seat like the original one had how they have done that I don’t know 👍👍🙏

They have tried to keep as close to the original one running wise you can feel it in the seat but when your going along it doesn’t bother you just so disappointed in the GoPro 1 in a million chance to ride a iconic bike and camera lets you down done my best to slow it down without it being to jerky thank you 👍👍🙏

Yes JAMES I gave the gloves back but I left the key in the bike when I went back in he soon shot out and got the key 😊 you know brilliant bike to ride they know about the bits that I said there working on a spring for the foot peg to spring back down and side stand otherwise I liked the tide some how it’s got the vibration like the original ones had can go back and test ride the new V4 super bike one there doing said well done for keeping within the speed limits so must have a tracker fitted well I had to behave myself 😂😂👍👍🙏

Best looking standard model bike produced. most other makes go for the street fighter look or conservative cruiser as their standard models. Get rid of the plastic fluid reseviors on the handlebars and the tacky looking turn signals replace with metal parts.

Most people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference, unless watching on ultra HD device. Good luck with the replacement, nothing more annoying than those problems you encountered.

But this seems not enough for the money. I think the Bonneville Speed Twin and Tiger series are better for the equivalent money. Pity about the stand and peg issues. Perhaps thats why one can call this a 'stand alone' bike. Just surprised TVS didn't insist on sorting these before allowing public riders...

Great vid Derek. Nice bike Derek but a tad pricey. You'd have thought Norton would have sorted out all the issues before allowing test rides and reviews but hey-ho lol. Don't think the power to weight ratio is that great or the mpg. To be fair I think I would want a bit more than traction control for £16K+ But you can't argue with how good the Norton looks and sounds which will probably be the main selling point. Hi yes the reliability of a GoPro😡 The Norton has plenty of power and torque even at low speeds very vibrating feeling bike must be how the crank has been done besides them foot pegs and the side stand once there sorted should make a good bike sales wise they have a fair few so far they were saying first delivery’s go out on the first quarter of next year let’s hope they make a success of it and not like the other company that tried and failed 👍👍

You mentioned engine vibration several times but excused the bike by calling it character. The British bikes from the 70's had character which was sales speak for oil leaks, vibration and poor reliability. I spoke to one owner of a Garner Commando who said the bike was a licence saver because the vibration was so uncomfortable he didn't want to go above 70mph! For a bike with a 270 degree crank and an engine balancer it's surprising there is any significant vibration. Fuel consumption is on par with my 2 litre, 2 tonne Nissan Primastar carrying tools, fittings etc etc so for a motorcycle carrying only the rider it is fucking awful. Would you buy one? I'm guessing not.

Having sat on one at the recent bike show even the riding position is wrong. I could not grip the tank with my 32" inside leg because my knees were way below the rear of the tank. It's a shame they're not getting the basics right.

Hi Derek just a request for advice. I know you have the scram 411 and wondered if you'd ridden the Himalayan and if you have if the performance is the same. I'm in a dilemma as the 411 seems to have better performance. Have you any comments on this that would help, or anyone else for that matter.

Hi Robert both bikes as you know have the same engine but saying that the scram 411 is definitely quicker I’ve rode the Himalayan adv and there’s to much weight on it to be in par speed wise to the scram now I don’t if you have watched my video I’ve changed the front sprocket for a larger 16 tooth one a couple of reasons why main one it definitely does lower the rpm at top end secondly it seems to change the gearing for example normally take a turn in 3rd gear cannot no more have to change down to second but saying that the gears go further when riding it happily holds 3rd gear doing 30/35 mph without over revving it plus now you can sit better in 4th gear longer and definitely notice the difference in 5th gear with the lower revs hope this sort of gives you a bit of information about it thank you Derek. 👍👍🙏

It's no good living in the past with retro bikes and aiming sales at us oldies in the 60 something age bracket. "Young", is your future. These bikes are not in anyway, shape or form aimed at a youngster market. Way too expensive for an outdated parallel twin design. Please consider the Japanese and Italian alternatives that are available, with better handling characteristics, power, and general, bang for buck. Please don't get the knives out. It needed saying. We all want to see Norton have a great future, and not just a poor existence, or far worse. It would help if everyone was perfectly honest and frank.

Hi Martin I’m 61 a week on Tuesday I had no intention of buying this bike I was very very lucky to have a test ride in it these 2 bikes the sp sports. And the cr cafe racer I too think there for the older generation BUT if you look at the bikes they have and in production you’ll be shocked there V4 super sports bike looks and goes brilliantly plus they have a line up of electric bikes in the pipe line me I’ve got 2 Royal Enfield’s Scram 411 and the MK2 650 twin interceptor in red and chrome but believe it or not my favourite bike is my 33 year old Kawasaki GPZ500 A1 model which I ride regularly good as the day I bought it new from whole sale motorcycles Coventry now know as Drayton Croft Kawasaki Hinckley where they moved to. 2 bikes I really like and owned was the Kawasaki Z1000 SX tourer which I traded in for a BMW F 850 GS adventure but unfortunately that got stolen in April this year so hence the 2 Royal Enfield’s. Hi there thank you for your comment personally the closest I can honestly say is the royal Enfield Interceptor mk2 650 twin I’ve got one very similar riding position but not has much vibration as the Norton better on fuel as well it’s a shame the big price tag for the Norton you can get nearly 3 interceptors for that price but what shocked me was the one I rode sp 961 £16.5K if you want the café racer CR 961 is £500 more making £17k the only difference is the handle bars I know what I’d rather buy at a 3rd of the Nortons price 👍🙏

HE actually made a video about R.E taking ages to send parts out. I abit disheartened having to buy a Interceptor & get to how I like it. The front forks ain't that good & need a fork upgrade & slip on's be the two first mods done immediately or even picking up from shop but still way cheaper than anything else with those 2 mods. I actually considering a bike I safety features like traction control after crash as traction control would of made a difference when I went off edge of road.Triumph Trident or Street Twin, T100 have traction control & wet,road modes anything that improves safety is good. Triumph a premium brand too although Super Meteor looks way more premium than the other 650's but not as safe.

To me Derek the bikes a pile of sh@t - and I think you would agree! Only 5 gears , no extras , vibrates , poor side stand , poor seating position , small tank and a ridiculously high price . Not surprised you're looking at other bikes though and don't blame you , you're slowly learning that the Enfield's are cheap Indian copy's or the great bike they used to be ( IMO ) You had a great Z1000SX which never failed you, unlike the Enfield's. You could buy a top spec SX brand new plus change for the price of the Norton !! Think about it 👍

Hi there in the pipeline of making the foot pegs spring back down and extending the side stand another tester said about the side stand as well they have had a good few sales on this model the SP sports thank you 👍👍🙏🙏

Hi Derek you've attempted to make a silk tie out of a sows ear and well done. But if you reflect an Norton was your own company I'm sure you would have made the bike as criticism proof as possible before a member of the public got anywhere near it.

@@teddy5069 yes you would definitely would think there own test riders would of picked these problems out I know MCN rode this bike and they said the same or very similar things them 2 things I picked up on which is the foot pegs coming up and not going down after you put your on the ground is bad plus that side stand never come across anything like that I literally had to learn over and push it down with my hand it’s not good but on the other I think they let people like me ride them to see what they think and complain about the bad points so they can get it right thank you for your comment 👍👍🙏🙏

I was thinking about the poor fuel economy as well Derek. Petrol engines have a max 7 years left before the 2030 ban. After that if we are allowed our own transport it will be electric if new. Perhaps Nortons future is electric ?

@@teddy5069 the mpg on them not good 36.4 120 miles to the tank. I think most manufacturers will go electric especially the big ones I’ll go back to a push bike with the prices of electric the way it’s going Norton never said anything about electric bikes some manufacturers are holding back I’ve been told to see who makes the best electric bikes then buy some and copy there way of making them like all manufacturers do same as cars as well 👍👍🙏
