how would you compare this in terms of build quality, general feel when driving to a VW passat saloon/estate with 1.6 tdi ?
@TESTDRIVEFREAK
@TESTDRIVEFREAK 8 жыл бұрын
+Vlatko.R its really good quality for drive, but interior looks like cheap plastic, 112 HP is bit slow for Toyota, i would prefer 143 HP version, fuel comsumption is really low, i had 7.3-7.8 liter, when i drive from south germany to Berlin and back always pedal on the floor at 5th or 6th gear! I think Sedan/limousine looks better and ist little more faster and less fuel comsupmtion than a saloon/estate, but do you really need saloon estate? i did test lots cars and i have the feel that limousine/sedan are better than saloon estate...

Only reason Toyota used BMW engine was to meet EU emissions the older2.0 d4d was not good enough to pass euro emissions pity really because that d4d engine was bomb proof ask any taxi driver plus the new Hilux is 2.4 with a renualt engine inside it older 3.0 d4d was dropped over euro emissions

@aidan1585

Also the fact that the 2.2 d cat was a terrible engine. Tons of reliability issues also, the fact that Toyota have always had the most noisy diesel engines out all competitors. They ended up getting an engine that is quietest out of all of the Avensis competitors

If anything, this car will suit everything. I love the Avensis because my dad had the first gen one and I seriously bonded with the car. Not only is it comfy wherever you sit, it's also reliable, stable and takes more than the apocalypse to fail. My shout out goes to Toyota for being kings at making small family cars. 💖

last 2 generation of Avensis was better with original Toyota diesel engines and not this BMW older generation junk which is very unreliable and mechanic repairs will be much more often then with "older" 2.0d4d /2,2 engines

Mr11ESSE111 These old junk bmw engine, as you named, is still beeing assembled in bmw series 1, 2, 3 , x1 these days and also in 2017 so far. The engine block and the base is equal at bmw and toyota, electronics & other adjustments differs in power (hp) result.Tourque of 270nm is equal at all bmw and toyota 'junk' engines.

it is for reason because they give BMW electric engines (but not oldie) and BMW gives them oldie unreliable junk and seems that Toyota start to be leisy company and that they give up from European market so they offer semiproducts with mixed parts on cars from who knows where because main market for Toyota are USA market and Asia and there are gasoline engines on first place and relative oldie gasoline engines so they dont need too spend money on new research while on Europen market you must have every few years new engine or you are old shit

Thank you for your content. Unlike any other channel it comprehensively shows the experience of owning each car. Also, thank you for reviewing the latest Avensis. For some reason most other reviewers do not bother with Avensis, what is very strange to me, since it is made by second biggest manufacturer and it is also one of the most popular models in many countries.

@@Mr11ESSE111 it’s not. BMW 1.6 litre engine comes from N47 base, same everything except the cylinder block, which is reduced from 500cc per cylinder to 400cc per cylinder. The engine code base is N47C16 / N47D16. All are pure BMW. Only Mini has used PSA engine from 2008 to 2011 on the Diesel cars and the 1.6 Turbo gasoline Prince engine from PSA (Mini Cooper S). The 1.6 litre on BMW was released on the 116D EfficientDynamics and Mini from October 2012 (F52 gen). Then, other brands, for example Toyota, uses now the N47 1.6litre BMW engine.

a diesel? Buy one with the 1.8 petrol manuel - can last forever. agree don't buy this version with a diesel (Bmw engine). If you want a diesel take the Avensis before this facelift, 2012-2015, which has a toyota Diesel engine.
