Hi, from Japan!! I’m glad famous Land Rover company uses name “Fuji White” picked from Mt. Fuji. In spite of this honor, I cannot accept their poor car building. High price less quality. I’ve heard British Royal family uses Land Rover. It seems Queen Elizabeth was so kind. She didn’t get mad for it!! She must have had strong physics. Cheep sheet? Ok!! Big roll? Ok!! I’m Queen!!

Gotta say, I'm surprised by the omission of the Yukon AT4 (instead of the Suburban) for cross shopping, especially now that GM has FINALLY committed to making the GMC interiors upscale compared to their Chevy twins. Do people think the Grand Wagoneer belongs in this conversation? It gets extremely spendy and has off road pretenses, because Jeep. Love the review, as always!

No one off-roads these but perhaps farmers in the UK. These things always look great -- LR's entire product line looks good. But I wouldn't own one because of the long list of potential problems. However, I did rent one once while on vacation in Hawaii and it was awesome. I loved driving it. It was comfortable, luxurious, and did everything asked of it.

I’ve had the LR3 (10yrs) and 4 (5yrs) and an L405 TDV8 Range Rover(6yrs) and not had any breakdowns that stranded me. I’ve replaced a suspension pump on the 3, nothing on the 4 and nothing but a lower suspension arm on the Rangey. So reliability wise they’ve served me well. They all did/do exactly what they said they would and more. The new Defender is really more of a LR5 and I found the Discovery’s (as referred to in the UK) to be the Swiss Army knife of cars. You can get three people in the back row but maybe two adults and a child. I’m 5’11” and can fit comfortably in the back of the 130. If you want more space then the car needs to be bigger, which may be ok in the USA but nowhere else. The rear overhang isn’t going to help approach and departure angles but you’re missing the point. Most owners will never see the rough stuff in one of these cars and speed humps will be the only exercise the suspension gets. My needs are not for off roading but for towing and people carrying. I’ll venture into campgrounds which will be on grass so there are needs for traction on more difficult surfaces than metalled roads so the auto terrain response does what it needs to do. Cars suit different needs and suit their owners which is why they get them. Some will buy purely because of the looks, or the perceived impression it gives of them. So what. It’s part of the best selling range of cars built by the company and suits my needs to a “T”. Maybe the capability is more than most require but those who buy the car are paying for it wether they use it or not. You pays your money ……………….

Maybe I am different than you guys, but the more I look for a 3 row suv, I test drove pretty much everything, this is the only one that CAN off-road, with comfort suspension for family road trip, and with good engine and transmission for handling except turning hard it’s kinda tippy. No other thing come close. GLS doesn’t feel as comfortable in ride unless you equipped everything, Tahoe feels not as nice or ride as good without air suspension and being more expensive if compared to base trim. Jeep wrangler and ford bronco is two row only so not 3 rows. The only thing close to its mission is rivian r1s, but it’s not very comfortable in suspension for family duty unfortunately. So I always ends up coming back to this as my choice if I am buying one for now

To my eye the proportions are surprisingly good. On paper it sounds like a terrible afterthought to simply add length at the back of a finished design, but it's always best to have unequal overhangs and this adds to the inequality of the front-to-rear overhang ratio, therefore *improving* the design over the 110. I can't see myself ever buying one but I dig it. Side note, the white over off-white is terrible--both aesthetically and functionally.

Another great review guys. The Defender name has a lot of prestige, so seeing this car miss the mark is a great learning experience. It is the clear case of not trusting your brand new and trying to capture market share based on it. Very curious about how sales will perform.

my build would be 130 S model in Sedona red with a white top , body color spare, tire cover ,19" black rims ,with explorer pac ........ just wish there was A 2 ROW OPT... do like it

Also this is not the same size as Tahoe/wagoneer/expendition. The 215 length includes the spare tire, so it’s about 200 inch for the truck, which is about every midsize crossover. It has shorter usable space than palisade/telluride, because rear wheel drive architecture, so no where close to those full size suvs

I'd have no problem with that color scheme for offroading. Stays way cooler in high mountain or desert sun. Leather cleans, and every color will get dirt on it

I love your car reviews, and I love you guys. But I've really grown to dislike your SUV reviews. Please quit saying "nobody will be taking this off-road." I'm somebody, I would take it off-road. I'm a fly-fishing guide, and this could be just what I need. But I'll never know, because you guys didn't give it a proper review. I need something that has off-road prowess, lots of space for rods, gear, and something that's comfortable for clients. There are people like me who need vehicles like this, and if you keep discounting them because "they'll mostly be driven through Starbucks," and soccer moms stop buying them, then soon they may be discontinued. We *need* those soccer moms to buy these, because if only fly-fishing guides bought them, Land Rover couldn't sell enough to stay in business. Look, I don't give a rats ass how an SUV handles on-road. I don't want a GLS or an X7. They suck off-road. Do us a favor, when you do reviews on real SUVs, we dont want to see pavement. We want to see dirt and rocks, that's all... dirt and rocks.

You left out a comparison with the BMW X7. Land Rover and Range Rover are overpriced cars that under-deliver. BMW and Mercedes and Suburban deliver a lot more value.
