@0give I'm gasping for LR primers. I can get powder and bullets in .308 and .458, (but not .358.) Manufacturers have been playing to the lowest denominator of new gun owners shooting .223 and .308 factory ammo and don't give a rip about reloading. Meanwhile, us reloaders get the hind teat with availability of powders, bullets, brass and especially primers for large rifles.

I’m doing load development for my savage 110 .270 win. I’ve looked up load data for my components. Not a lot out there for my components. But there is some. I chose H4350 because I can get plenty of it and it’s temp friendly. I also chose it because I can use it in many of my hunting different cartilages. So far I’ve been very satisfied with H4350 powder handling. Now I’m getting ready to range test the five .270 cartilages I loaded yesterday. I’m expecting good results. I’ve studied and purchased the equipment a little bit at the time. Now it’s time to see what I’ve learned. Thanks Gav and friends for being part of the cyber reloading school.

The only Hodgdon labelled powder I have used is their Superformance for my .30-06's. Otherwise I have been a devoted IMR powder reloader using the IMR 4064 and 3031 most of the time for my .308 and .35 Remington. I am gradually moving toward the Winchester 748 and 760 as my 'go-to' powders for the .308 and .30-06. The pressure index is lower than other powders and the velocity lost due to this is negligible. And, they meter much more easily. I like your thoughts about compressed loads even though you didn't say compressed. I never thought about the gap between the primer and powder in the casing if you are pointing downward in a hunting situation or combat position. I loved seeing the .375 H&H Magnum in your line-up.

0 seconds ago H4350 42.8Gr Lapua brass CCI BR4 Berger VLD Hybrid 140 Gr COAL 2.855” Average velocity 2830ft/s Ruger Precision Rifle Gen 2 bone stock in 6,5 Creedmoor. I was able to hit a golf ball at 500m and Canadian $1 coin at the same distance. Penetrated a 3/8” mild steel plate standing solid at that distance as well so be careful where you are setting up your targets. These rounds are known for sectional density. Keep that in mind. Same case, same primers, same powder but 42.5 Gr charge and Hornady ELD-X 143 Gr I use for hunting. Excellent groups at 100m and 500m. No problem hitting a 4” gong at 500m either. I didn’t move a seating die from what it was set for Berger VLD Hybrid 140 Gr and it gave me a COAL 2.826”. This way I have a target and a hunting load ready to go without any changes whatsoever. Just a bit of a different powder charge. Both of these loads are almost not affected by wind up to 500m at all. High BS and a good velocity will do the trick. I shot a black bear at 60m with ELD-X load. It flipped on its back stood up and ran. Found it about 150m away from my stand. Not a huge exit wound which goes back to what I was saying earlier, this round has a huge sectional density and at short distance it’s going to act almost like FMJ. At least this is the case with Hornady ELD-X 143 Gr. I’m thinking about switching over to a Nosler AccuBond and I’m also taking into a consideration Sierra Game King for hunting purposes.

I know everyone says you can not use 4350 in 308 but I am going to test it and if you all did that would be great

I'm glad I came across this, as I was under the same impression, THANX. In NZ Hodgdon is getting hard to get, so I went looking for something else and found the ADI AR2209 I use 41gr behind a Hornady 90gr ELD-X bullet

Love me some h4350! 41.5 grains with a 105 Berger Hybrid is absolutely sweet and in the .1s when I do my thing. 41.5 w a Berger 140 or eld 140 as well is fantastic. 41.5 (catching a theme yet?) is also fantastic in my 25 CM and shoots groups from .0s to .2s all day long with Berger 135s. 75 grain elds and 39.1 g in my 22 CM is a lethal combo for chucks and super tight ES… have had ES of 2 MPH on five shot groups with 6.5, 6 and 25 CM with 22 CM not far behind. I’ve had 9 creedmoors in four chamberings and won’t even try another powder it just works!

Shooting a 6XCII with 39.0gr of H4350 and 105 Berger VLD Target consistently around the 1/4 inch 9shot groups. I've trusted H4350 in a number of cartridges now and it has always preformed. I want to try that StaBall 6.5 in a 6.5 Creed..... plz restock

Those of us who are prairie dog shooters also go through a lot of loading and shooting so I would love to see more info for those of us who shoot light for calliber bullets such as 55 and 70 grain bullets for 243 and 40 and 55 grain bullets for 223 and 22 250. 😊

Great-- create additional demand for a powder that experienced reloaders already can't get their hands on..... Thanks

I was finally able to stock up on this and Varget. Did you ever do more work with Staball. Im still using that for my 6.5 creedmoor over H4350 - Im running 42.5g @ 2870 on a 140g ELD-M out of a 26 inch barrel. Using Varget and H4350 for my 6mm and my x47s though.

Interesting video. Thanks for posting this. How does IMR 4350 compare to H4350? I just picked up two lbs of the IMR to load 180 gr bullets in 30-06. I usually use either Varget or H4064 for 150 gr bullets

H4350 is growing in popularity since Hodgdon bought out DuPont/IMR and IMR 4350 is getting harder to find. Along with Alliant reloader 17 hasn't been coming in from Switzerland.

Reloading my 257 JDJ, 6 JDJ, 6.5 JDJ, 309 JDJ, and 375 JDJ call for H4350. H4350 is one of the most popular powders for loading the hot JDJ rounds without running into pressure problems.

404 Jeffery, 84.0 grs of H4350, Fed No 215 primer, 400 gr Swift A Frame bullet yields about 2300 FPS. SD = 3 on a 5 shot string. A gent from New Zealand shared this, so it is know as the Von Gruff load.

Sorry to brag, but I've got over 40# of the stuff. I don't know how they do it, and I don't ask, but I've got a sweet little honey-hole that almost always has 8 pounders in stock. I love it in my 7mm-08 w/162gr ELD-M.
