I have a friend who goes to my church South Tampa Fellowship Tampa She was at Lowell for selling one year 1/2. She found God and Celebrate Recovery was a big help. She and her husband are fine now too. Jesus is the answer.

Thank you for sharing your beautiful testimony. You really shine! ❤ I am so proud of you! It is amazing what Jesus can do with a heart that is open to truth. We begin by first seeing ourselves and our actions honestly. Hopefully this leads a person to feel remorse for the bad deeds committed. The soul feels the need for change and calls out to God, wants to get to know Him and asks Jesus to forgive and change their heart around. Just as He did for you: He will come in to a person’s life when we ask Him to fill us with the Holy Spirit. This is called being born again because the change that God makes within us is so remarkable and amazing. It happens through faith. We get to know God by reading His Word. It is so powerful! It’s like having a whole new life and becoming a whole new person because we don’t do the things (sins) any more that led us to despair. Life becomes an interesting journey with Jesus onboard. May God bless and help you. May His face shine upon you and be gracious unto you and help you all along your way. Keep the faith!

What advice would you give to help someone who has never properly dealt with being sexually abused at a young age? I’ve tried to talk to them about Jesus and they give the exact same objections as what you used to have. What do you think it was about your Christian friend in prison that led you to Christ? Also, could you please pray for this person? Thanks! ❤️

I will absolutely pray for that person! For me, it was the love of my friend that made me see the love of God. So many people had given up on me, but she pursued me even when I was really wild and even hostile to her (and God!). As far as speaking to the objections that I used to have and that your friend is coming up with, I'm just going to share some thoughts. I wish there was a formula for the perfect things to say...I remember feeling like God couldn't possibly be real because of all the wretched things that happened, not just to me, but in the world we live in. But in the moment He called me, I felt SEEN by Him for the first time. It wasn't as important anymore that all the terrible things happened...those things still hurt, but I suddenly just knew He had seen it all and that it broke his heart. BUT it seems that's where people have a hard time - like, if it breaks His heart, why would He continue to allow it? I struggled deeply with that, even after I believed in Him. But over the years I realized I was thinking in the short term, in the now, and not about eternity - which is the true prize of the Christian life! And now, the deepest comfort to my soul in the midst of the trials, tragedies, and pains of life is that HE IS NOT LEAVING US THIS WAY. To believe in Jesus is to believe that He is coming again, to make everything that is broken straight. It's hard to fix our eyes on the unseen things, but those are the eternal things. Perhaps, if your friend can get to a place of believing he/she is seen by God, they can also get to the place of finding healing and rest in knowing that one day there will be no more pain. Praying for your friend, and I am thankful they have you in their life!
