actually, unless someone tied the lock-wire, or installed the cotter pins wrong, its almost impossible for a nut or bolt to be knocked loose. Every nut, bolt, and screw is secured to one another in such a way that actually tighten each other if one starts to become loose. there are always at least 2 nuts/bolts/screws, attached to each other by lock-wire, sometimes there are even 3 attached to each other. If your wondering how i know so much about this, im an Aviation Maintenance college student

The thing trailing behind the fin is a trailing cone. It is used to measure static air pressure clear of the airplane's influence. It can be extended a few hundred feet.

Thank you for your comment. Please be assured that Boeing's top priority is the integrity of our products and the safety of the passengers and crews who fly on them. We have been working around the clock to understand the issues and develop a solution based on extensive analysis and testing following the events that occurred in January. You can read more and watch videos on the tests and solutions on our web site - just seach for "787updates.newairplane" Thank you again!

No decision has been made regarding the other three test airplanes. Regarding your other question .. The flutter testing we do during Flight Test is planned within the normal operating environment of the airplane so there are no unique inspections required. However, in general, there are more thorough and frequent inspections during the Flight Test program to ensure the airplanes are meeting requirements. Thanks!

I like the wings, the way they bend upwards at the outer ends, almost as if they're built that way to a certain degree, but they appear to flex upwards as well with the created lift. I'm surprised it has very tiny winglets. I thought that was the thing now with wing-tips in helping reduce drag and wind resistance to help conserve fuel. But apparently they must've tested the best design in that very small one it has. It appears the elevators also have a bit of a backwards sweep to their tips. I like the jaggedly, cut trailing edge of the engine casement. Gives its aesthetics just that little bit of flare.

Great aircraft have gone through tough patches in the past and succeeded. The 737 is an example. A plane that went through extreme rudder problems which resulted in the death of hundreds. And yet it emerged as the worlds most popular jet airliner.

I don't care what everybody says about the 787. The 787 will make it out of this issue. Every major aircraft has these hiccups in the early stages of their lives(747, A380). I'm confident that Boeing can get these planes back out and running because that is what they do. I love the 787 and Boeing!

5:35 , which rotation was that??

I guess an early one... because the pilot pitches down a little in order to increase speed after rotation.

@marchesedesade89 Since the air is thinner (less dense), it's harder to control an aircraft. One consequence is that more runway is needed to generate enough lift on take-off. So, one question they try answer with such testing is (put simply) "how much more runway is needed?"

@rocksinger45 I'm a skilled boadbuilder and thru that worked a lot with carbon fibres a lot. Altough I to not exactly know how they built the fuselage but in my experienxe carbon fibere is so stiff and britle that is is rearly used alone but almost always combined with aramied (kevlar) fibres to add flexebilady. Glieders are build that way and the cocpit armor of apache atack helicopers to and bouth withstand very severe crashs. I'm sure that the fuselage just gets gridet away in a bellylanding

Now, I'm waiting for PMDG to make a aircraft like this now that the Dreamliner has taken off. Boeing, yoou'll have to try extremely hard to disappoint me. The only disappoint about this is not even related to this, my disappointment is that I wasn't able to see the live webcast of the first flight because I was in school during the time. Ugh. Anyways, great aircraft and video. Hope to be a passenger on the Dreamliner and maybe pilot one, both virtual and the real thing.
