I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. kzbin.infoUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

I have had a Hustler 104 for 3 years and use it on a hilly farm with a pond and traction with the regular turf tires was scary. I was always sliding on the hills. I put the standard lug type tractor tires on the machine and I can go anywhere now without spinning or worrying about sliding into the pond, and it doesn't tear up the grass any more because it doesn't spin and the Lug type tractor tires are narrower which means it contacts less grass which makes turning without tearing up grass better too. Another tip, If you are wanting to mow out into a pond or over a curb, don't let the hydraulics all the way down. Make the hydraulic cylinders keep the deck that you hang over into the pond or street level and you can easily mow over the pond or curb as fast as you can go and not have to worry about the wheels of the mower falling off the curb. So I now no longer have to weed eat around the pond.

I mow a lot of new construction housing developments. New roadways and what not. Since the ground was disturbed its no longer solid so i got directional tires for my zero turn with only a 5 foot deck. It was actually kind of hard to rip the turf. It would not spin. And turned that mower into a goat! Hills so steep almost couldn't stay on the mower pushing near a 50 degree angle...... suicide I know. Mud, wet hills it didnt care. That was a great Dane chariot. My toght the 104 would have problems turning that mass on a hill or wet grass. I see you sir found the solution.

I have chevron tractor tyres on my Hustler with similar results. No skidding, so much less tearing of the ground. Much safer on slopes, and never get stuck again! I had feared that the grass would be damaged, but after a few skids with the lawn tyres and getting stuck a couple of times, I bought the tractor tyres and have used them now for 8 years. Would never go back.

I really love my 2018 60" Hyperdrive. Works great and keeps on going... Its just heavy so you have to watch out when it is wet and have soft yard. Being down in Texas with the clay soil can really compress and leave tracks. I have been sucked down into a bar ditch or two, as soon as it breaks over get the deck up and head for the ditch and try to power right up the other side. That has been my best solution.

Hustler used to make a “Range Wing” mower in the mid 90’s. 72” center deck with 36” decks on each side. Each side deck was independent of each other. Only problem was it was a front deck mower that was VERY heavy and would get stuck fairly easy. I’ve been past the factory down in Hesston, KS and have been overall impressed with their mowers.

Great video Stan! I’ve watched your channel for a few years and when I went to purchase a mower I went to the Scag dealer. You did good going with a Hustler instead of a SCAG. I don’t know about Hustler’s pricing, but I do know their engineering department is prob the best in the industry… ESP when it comes to hydraulics and the drive system. The hoses for the hyperdrive are massive, the radiator/intercooler is HUGE.. quite thick( aluminum of course) and it has a big electric fan on top…. It’s amazing. Only thing I’ve seen like it, is what Hydro-gear/Ferris did with the 3800 hydros and the small radiators, ( and I guess the hydros have pumps in them to pump the oil up to the coolers, then back down to the hydros. Pretty awesome. I was actually thinking of rigging up something myself with the fill hole/plug and the air purge hole on top… but… it would have been a project. But, they come standard on the ferris Z2’s now. Oil Guard/vanguard EFI is the only way to go. Kawasaki’s ARE NOT MADE LIKE THEY USE TO BE… 10-20 years ago… and back then… vanguard’s WERE junk… but 800cc/28HP and up…. Amazing motors. Made in a totally new plant in Statesboro, Georgia! Whoop!

Now I have 3 acre's to mow and will be purchasing another one due to the dependability, power, and the machine is built like a tank. My lawn care business is small, but the Hustler Raptor SD 42" I bought last season cuts like a champ and works great. I've had one or 2 people say that Hustler isn't great, but I've heard more (often ones who worked for municipalities) who said that when other brand machines would go down, the Hustler would keep on going. I think Hustler focused on strength/reliability over things like comfort or a super nice cut. They cut good, I've cut yards weekly and kept them looking great and cut overgrown yard with grass 4' tall, but I've seen some other brands cut a little better.

Hustler invented the zero turn mower. The reason nobody talks about them is because they are expensive. My first hustler was a k251 and it was rear discharge. Loved that mower. Paid $1000 for it and sold it 5 years later for $1500. Never had a problem with it. Now I have a hustler fastrak. One spindle bearing and the wire to the carb broke. Only problems I ever had in 10 years. Cant beat a hustler.

@@Dirtmonkey yeah. I just think it's interesting calling it by something different. That's actually something I like to see on mowers because (at least in car engines) the replacement oil pan that usually comes with dry sump kits will have baffles or slots on the inside that will take off extra oil from the bottom of the crank as it spins to reduce rotating mass which will add more power. I wonder if there's something like that inside the crank case of these.

I was just wondering about that the other night. I wondered "can you use it as a regular mower with the wings up on your residential properties and then drop the wings on the commercial ones?". That statement right there where you said that it WILL NOT mow with the wings up answers my question. That is a lot of money to spend on a very specific purpose. I hope that they will be able to come up with a fix for that. Maybe some idler pulleys that engage when the wings drop? I' m sure there is a way to be able to use it as a regular mower with the wings up. They will double their sales if they can figure that out. As a normal lawn care company, I wouldn't spend that much on a mower that I can only use on a few lawns out of my whole route.

We run Hustlers 104s and Exmark 96s at my job. Both have their pros and cons. You can run curb lines with the 104 wing casters well over the curb. Line up to the curb with you wings up and slowly drop you wings down with your casters over the edge of the curb until you get the desired depth of cut you like. We use the piston as a drop stop so we do not wreck blades on curb lines and we get a nice contoured cut along curb lines that way. Also you can get better lines in your grass if you install mulch kit and lower the baffles in the deck.

I have a 37i Model H with a 62" side discharge deck that is belt driven. Mostly use it for large lots and a 16 acre HOA that has native grass that needs cut every other week in the summer. They are amazing machines, I have a couple of 27i Model T mowers with the high lift dump and a 48" & 52" decks on them. Those are for my weekly lawn customers, Colorado climate is too dry to get away with mulching on a weekly basis so most of my lawns the clippings are caught and the high lift dump allows me to dump in my pickup between jobs.

@@OneNationUnderGod. I have a 2007 mcghs with 3000 hours on it. Still runs like a champ. I also bought a b23i this summer that I use for all of my larger properties that don’t need grass collected. They truly are amazing mowers!

You can easily mow a football field in 10 minutes with that machine. It just comes with figuring out the best way. We mow a lot of ball fields. We use 60 in decks and knock out a foot ball field in less than 20 minutes.

Love the hustlers and have been mowing commercially since 92. Have had exmart and ransom in the early years. I’m always looking to tweak things to improve productivity. When hustler came out with a stand on mower I was hesitant. But thanks to your reviews on stand on mowers I was able to get rid of one of my riding mower‘s and a walk behind. I Currently have hustlers 61 inch hyperdrive and a 48 inch stand on. Ps I cringe when I see you using a finish mower to brush cut the swamp!

We had an early 70's "Central Park" 8hp brigs 42" dual blade rear discharge mower and the *only* complaint about it was getting the damned blades. It sounded better, it worked better, it bogged down less (both throwing aft instead of one tossing over the other) and the deck's vibration was FAR less. It used one blade forward of the other so you always turned on the forward blade side so you wouldn't get a tiny strip. If I had shop tools I'd build that deck and find an old tractor frame and bend my own blades. Rear and center rear discharge are the way to go. Not having to blow the street is $5 per job back in your pocket.

These mowers with the Oil Guard and Hyperdrive hydro cooling system…. Makes these mowers indestructible!!!! It’s always been my belief that Hustler has one of the best engineering department out there. Kubota has their own proprietary hydro system, but I think Hustler’s are just built really well and over built. You can get an extended warranty up to 5 years. Ferris, Spartan, and Hustler are the only manufacturers that I know that has the Oil Guard Vanguard’s. As they say at Hustler, they are designed to run 8 days a week. 🤷🏼♂️👍🏼👌🏻

Hey Stan. You could have had that truck driver stand on the back of the Bobcat as a counterweight. Problem solved.

farmer Bob- I thought of that- we used to do that. But its dangerous and I don't know this guy.
@jackmeoff76864 жыл бұрын
A person won't make much of a difference in terms of being a counter weight when you're lifting 2500lbs
@farmerbob45544 жыл бұрын
@@jackmeoff7686 Yes it would. The skid steer is acting as a simple lever and Stan has the load almost balanced. From the back of the skid steer to the front wheels (fulcrum) is about 4x the distance from the load to the front wheels so there’s a 4:1 mechanical advantage. The driver is a well-fed guy, I’m guessing about 230 lb so if he stands on the back the lifting force at the load is 4 x 230 = 720 lb. The additional force (F) could be enough to balance the load. You may be correct but I’d be willing to bet the drivers weight would balance the load according to F= (WxX)/L.

@@Dirtmonkey This is a quote from a manufacture. Wheeled Vehicles on the Track This is one area that always comes up for discussion, and we try to address it early and often. “If it has wheels on it, it does not belong on the track.” The rubberized track surface is not designed to support the stresses that are created by the tire friction when driving vehicles on the track. The lateral stresses placed on the track surfacing materials during transitions onto the surface, starting and stopping on the surface, and turning the wheels on the surface while stopped or driving on the surface can be sufficient to break the bond between the surface and the base. This can lead to early deterioration of the surface. Damage caused by driving on the track surface, except in emergency circumstances, is not covered by any warranty. Field maintenance vehicles must cross the track to mow and care for the infield. Whenever this takes place, protective mats should be placed across the track at the crossing point. When infield work is completed, the mats should be removed until the next maintenance period. Leaving the mats on the track surface will trap moisture between the mat and the surface, and will lead to surface breakdown over the long term.

If you unload units off the truck like you did in this video when you drag them have the driver walk behind and steer the pallet. When we get our cub mowers in the spring we have to do the same thing. A person can steer the pallet around while it's sliding pretty easy.
