Damn! That's a great idea actually. Even bicycling. Tangent: when I was 15ish, my buddy & I were biking on the green belt in Denver at night. He stopped abruptly for some reason, I didn't see him, smacked square into his rear tire, and subsequently his seat smacked square up his rear end. Poor guy...he's been pooping pancakes ever since & still sees a shrink to this day! If only he had this inertia brake light... Jk, but he did try his damnedest not to cry & be a man about it. Only problem, there's no way to be a man about getting...well... penetrated? And I absolutely would have felt bad if it wasn't so absolutely hilarious as a 15 y/o that his bike stole his virginity. You are welcome for that completely unnecessary story btw. Your comment just reminded me of something I hadn't thought about in a couple decades. ...truth be told, it's still kinda funny.

9:45 About a decade ago a bike magazine wanted to test real-world bike security and those chose to actually go out and steal people's bikes. This one guy, they parked their van outside his house, walked up the driveway, broke into the garage, lifted the bike out, with the alarm sounding off, manhandled it down the drive, chucked it in the back of their van and drove off with it. And then they went and knocked on the door to tell him they'd nicked his bike. Not only did he not notice it had happened... his kid had watched them do it out the window, but had assumed they were allowed and were taking it to the place for a service or something.

You can in the US as well, my phone bill is about $10/month (actually I think its $100/year, which is slightly less). When you're spending the near $60/month that guy was thinking its for something like 30 GB of hotspot tethering plus 35 GB of 4g phone data (afterwards becomes really slow but you could check emails still), with unlimited calling and text. I had to do that when I was out where no real internet service was, using my phone like home internet since that was pretty much the cheapest I could get anything reasonable. You can also do what the feds do and clone your sim card (however since the NSA taps and records everyone's phone in the US, they probably don't clone sims anymore since there is no need), but then you have a copy of your sim without needing to pay extra if you already have a cell phone.

Its barley visible to the naked eye unless you are specifically look for it and its zip ties holding it to the frame. The batteries are easy to change in both the remote and sensor itself. Just a word of advice. Put it on your bike where the actual frame itself gets touched the most. We have had times of forgetting the sensor is on but it doesn't sense our movement until we are on and driving away. It's all about the right placement and this will be the best 20$ you've ever spent. Worked in Los Angeles and works here in rainy Oregon.

About the tracking one, you dont have to spend that much on a phone plan, just with a basic phone plan that you pay just for what you use or add lets say 10$ prepaid and add more $ if you ran out, and those things would use data only while you are using the app/tracker
@theSimonManuel2 жыл бұрын
600 bucks? It's made for an entirely different market then. Here in India data-only for a year would work out to ~20 bucks. It must be a lot cheaper in China I must imagine.
@grumblez2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that number would be accurate for a full-fledged phone plan in America but you can add a line to your existing plan for fairly cheap or do some sort of prepaid cheaper deal to I'm sure.
@theSimonManuel2 жыл бұрын
@@grumblez Right. The add-ons should work out a lot cheaper. Ahhh yes, I was referencing a prepaid plan.

They're either lying or stupid. Buy a prepaid SIM card, costs 10 bucks, then charge it up with another 10 bucks and you're pretty much done for the decade. The device needs about 2-5MB of data, which is incredibly cheap...

WARNING on those TPMS caps, they should only ever be used on METAL valve stems NEVER RUBBER ones (some even have that warning on the package or instructions now), I had a similar system a few years ago before they had the warnings, and the weight of one of the sensors pulled out my rear (rubber) valve stem on the highway at 65 mph leading to a very scary situation, once I pulled over I saw the front valve stem was starting to pull out as well.

So centrifugal force on a motorcycle wheel pulls inward toward the axle??? WEIRD!
@volvo092 жыл бұрын
@@mrbmp09 it happens, especially when they're older. Even the real long ones that are like 2 or 3 inches intended for steel car wheels with hubcaps will fail with time from the bending force... Had it happen to me! Only wheel with a long valve stem and it snapped off one day on the highway!

Regarding the alarm, I agree that no one pays much attention to the sound other than to be annoyed - I work on a college campus and car alarms go off all the time without anyone so much as batting an eyelash other than to roll their eyes - if it notifies the owner? THAT would be a great thing

I have a motorized bicycle and this video sold me on the headphones (I use a dirt bike helmet, getting ear buds to stay in is a nightmare) and the theft alarm, I live in a city, and I've seen people try and jack my bike before seeing that it's locked up. I'm more an e-bike/ motorized bicycle person, but eventually I'd like to get a cheap motorcycle, so You've earned a sub from me.

I bought a non-Bluetooth, Brake Free helmet. All red lights, about the size of a couple small fists, with sensors that make the lights go crazy when they detect descelleration or a lot of head movement. While riding in light rain down town, a utility man in a van pulled up to me at a light and said how the extra lights made me much more noticeable in traffic.

There are dedicated cellular services available that are much cheaper, you can find them around 12-23 bucks a month, I've heard of as low as 6 bucks but that was a long tie ago. May be a solution to the GPS unit for some people who liked the idea but thought the cost of service was too high.

Hey the picture of the muffler burn protection on your calf got my attention immediately. I had the great idea to make a doeskin bandana for my neck when riding. Unfortunately doeskin at 80 mph turns into a bull whip to ears and face. Has recently burnt my calf on hot pipes. So I thought to move from my neck to my leg. Worked wonderfully, except for the looks and comments it garnered at the the local biker bar.
@julianr17422 жыл бұрын
You are very right on the bike theft aspect, they are indeed just rolling them into trailers and loading them into truck beds and then bypass the ignition at another location or part it out. The sound of that alarm is enough to draw attention and hopefully deter a thief. Well worth the asking price.
