Thank you so much, but I just wanna know when do we have to multiply by −1?? because there are different equations that you don’t have to do it??

Good question, Jake. I've found that the easiest way to see if two equations are equivalent is by writing them both as y =. Since we substitute -y for y to check for symmetry with respect to the x-axis or the origin, we need to multiply both sides by -1 whenever we have -y.
