Eric, you're looking for something to increase the trampoline effect of the wood. Try pouring hot rubber or something eith a similar density, then cap the hole with at least three inches of wood to form a compression pocket in the sweet spot of the bat.

Try filling the hole entirely with wood glue. If you have a lot in one place and keep it away from oxygen so it dries slowly, it dries firm but still has give/squish/bounce and would completely adhere to the wood ("dries stronger than wood") so it wouldn't come flying out the end. Plus, it's just about the same weight or less as actual wood. We need a follow-up episode with the top 5-10 suggestions in the comments. Don't ignore us!

Using something to make it SLIGHTLY heavier but springy like modeling clay may get even more impressive results. Not all modeling clay just some mixed with something stable like cork or something to fill gaps. The trick is not to make it overtly heavy just a bit but filling any air pockets. Maybe even spray insulation foam around cork.
@miguelhidalgo9543 Жыл бұрын
I'd have a welder make a cast for hollowed out chrome steel marbles with a clay core, roughly ~3-5 mm thickness and ~10-20 mm diameter to cork my bat with something to dampen the impact of the marbles against eachother. I'd have to consult someone what the optimal dimensions are for the integrity of the balls and bat as well as the performance of the finished product. Basically the idea is that metal and clay are far denser than wood, although clay is prone to damage, so the metal shell would protect it. The finished product would not be lighter and possibly heavier, but it would in theory have substantially more pop like the composite cores for Stealth or Catalyst bats
@kylejordan2654 Жыл бұрын

I think you need to use that cork that comes in a can and pack it in. If you google cork filler you can find it. I believe its used in shoe making. Also I'm not sure it makes the bat bouncier i think its to remove weight but if it does make it bouncier the cork would need to be tightly pack into the hole like that canned cork filler stuff
