This is footage where my dad and I we're testing the newest addition to our crew - the automatic giant. The machinists and engineers out there will appreciate its simplicity and effectiveness. The way it works is that the directions are literally programmed by placing screws into the different cut out holes that dictate the angle, and also amount of time, that the giant operates. It's a smooth operation and we still use it today. We just set it and let it run, it's that easy.
The bones weren't the main focus here, and I quickly breezed past them due to the limitations of the memory card I was using. I actually ended up breaking this camera, which was a Panasonic GH1. I tried to hack it and ended up bricking it. I sold it later to a guy who thought he could fix it by reinstalling the firmware.. I don't know if he did or not. Anyways, I don't think technical limitations will be a problem for us in 2023 and beyond.

Thank you Grinnell Outdoors! I will continue to upload these and hopefully time it right to have it all up by the start of the summer when I can begin new content. We'll see if I time it right, cheers!

Me too. I started by watching the documentary about the Russians doing the same thing sometime last year and was intrigued by it. When I saw this on JR I immediately went to the site mentioned and watched everything on it.

It really is! What makes this video so cool is that it shows the progress of where we were at back then. I love using it as a comparison to show how little ground we've gone through, but it does look way different. I might have to make a 3d map of the property before summer season starts, and then do it again at the end to track how much the topography of the land changes. You can also measure gravel differences, but that's something I've forgotten how to do and don't have licenses to the software anymore. I have to get back in the drone stuff this summer since they're such a powerful tool. Cheers right back bro!

Larry wasn't kidding when he said he was your biggest newest fan. I can't get enough of this. I've been treasure hunting my whole life and a few years back got really into metal detecting. It's crazy the things I find here in 🇨🇦. Have you guys ever swung a coil over the area your finding the bones? Can I then?

That's fantastic you were up here! It's funny cause back then we weren't posting this on social media or telling people. The area where this is at is cool cause if you just drive a few miles down the road you can hear dogs barking from all the dog mushers that live nearby. It's a very unique and special place. Best of luck back to you on making it back one day, cheers!

@@Kinzey spent a bunch of time up by Fox, but would run dogs around goldstream valley, ester, and off of sheep creek road. For long training runs I'd head up to the Whites near Livengoooood and stay for a week. Driven in front of the No.8 many many times. I sure miss the life up there, no spending my time between Charlotte and Amelia Island I've acclimated to this southern weather and would be miserable for a winter up there to re-acclimate. You guys ever thought of charging for tours of TBY?

Looks like it works really smoothly. Do you still use something like this, or have you moved on to other methods?

Haven't changed anything since then. We use these same, two giants and will occasionally move them with the excavator if we have too. It's a very simple operation.

Very cool! I'm almost tempted to invest in an underwater drone and go exploring bodies of water in Alaska. I just don't know how much time I will have though.

haha I appreciate the gesture, but I swear we do have boots! For some random reason, all these old videos have me wearing sneakers and sandals haha. These days I only go in wearing extra tuffs or barefoot, if it's hot enough. Cheers and have a great night and rest of your week P S!

Man I got the perfect video for you! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pWrJknaqmZWil7M This is almost what all the water looks like in the interior, but if you are patient, I *think* you could get some amazing footage in rivers and lakes in Alaska.

@@Kinzey I hope you find it! I know you can't say because of the difficulties but you must be finding humans also. Maybe you even find some 'missing link', so I hope some day it will all be investigated! Holy ground you got! Loved the docu!

The bedrock is a little deeper from what we're hydraulicking here. I will definitely be setting up a small sluicing operation this summer and do it whenever I get some free time though.

When I get around to uploading the recent footage, you'll see how we've gone back a little further from where we're at here. Really we haven't progressed that much since it's such a small piece of property. It's only 5 acres.

I have tons of footage I haven't uploaded yet. I started this channel a few years ago and didn't get much interest, so I put it on the backburner and would eventually get around to it once life calmed down. Plus all this old footage is historic, rare, and helps craft the story of where we are today and what the boneyard looked like when we were just getting started.
