Interesting antenna and perhaps a good compromise for those without a lot of space to setup at home or even in the field.

I built my own several years ago using Hustler mobile antennas. Worked ok but to be honest, they worked better as a vertical with some ground radials. Your mileage may vary of course.

Great Video Tracy. I love seeing other antennas and how they work. With that mast, I’d dread tuning it. However, once tuned, it would be a great antenna. I have one similar to that made by hustler that connects to a mag mount that is stick on top of my truck. My Elmer and I call it Sputnik. 😂

Thanks for the review. They are very proud of this antenna at $320+. I can see pack-it-away issues with all those resonators. It looks cumbersome to set up and take down IMHO. Might be a good choice for HOA situations.

The antenna is really well made, no issues with elements or assembly process. There was no problem with either setup or teardown. Yes, you have to be careful, have a solid mast and a method of setting it up. I would not use it for a few hours of operating but if you are somewhere for a day and space is limited it would be an option to consider. (I am hypercritical about this kind of stuff but I was presently surprised)

It looks like a great option with 5 ready-to-go bands when you're in a limited footprint location such as an RV spot in a state or county park. No impact on the local flora. I'm interested in this antenna.

Thanks for the video guys. Great job.

Seems a bit on the expensive side. I don't do a lot of POTA but when I've had I just put up a doublet and can work all the bands between 40 and 6meters and did it for much less than 100 dollars. With the stand and mast, more like 200, so eh. On the positive, it looks easy to use and set up, and would be a find addition to any pota outfit. Best Regards.

Great video. Have considered purchasing one of these for multiband convenience, but opted for the EFHW which requires more space. How do you think it compares to ham stick dipoles in terms of efficiency?
@radioastronomy2001Күн бұрын
The EFHW most likely will be more efficient but it may require more space to setup. Also, I hoped to observe some directivity of the dipole but it was not there. Looking at the length of the antenna it may be slightly more efficient than a hamstick. Too difficult to test in any meaningful way.

Diamond is noted for quality antennas, so I would have no hesitation in buying one if I needed. The only question I have is, is there an adapter for 80 meters? I always look for equipment for EmComm, so something that works on 7/80 is imperative.
@radioastronomy2001Күн бұрын
Hustler has 75m resonators for their version of the antenna. However, with the length of the antenna, I am suspecting the efficiency would be in a single digit range. For 80m I would use EFHW, dipole or ZS6BKW which is small and with the tuner works OK on 80m .

I considered building one for 40M but maybe 20' overall with extended lower portions and adding it to my tri band yagi as a 40M element but have yet to do that. It helps working where I work to be able to make things..

I will say this...getting into different aerials to see how they work is a sure sign you have some engineering personality traits. Always try new stuff...experiment. This situation is not to be feared....quote from Emperor Palpatine from Star Wars...."it is unavoidable...it is your destiny."

Hi Tracy, did you try it on 40? I think it would be great for FD. I work 40cw for our club, VE3LON.
