I have had the Striker 60lb for 4 years used in sea water on a 5m clinker hull fishing boat (normally has 6hp-15hp O/B) but for night fishing around the mangroves the 60lb is magic probably does 3-4kts with 3 POB and all up weight ~500kg. Pro's; it is good and reliable and the battery level indicator is a strong plus. Con's; no kick up if you hit the bottom or an obstruction you risk damage if you do. The transom clamps are lightweight, overtighten and you risk breaking the plastic knobs, the steel used in the clamps is light zinc coated it will rust unless rinsed and WD40'd. The tiller handle feels fragile. Here is a real issue though...the connection leads are short, if you extend them use heavy duty high quality 12v/60amp cables and pay particular attention to the join, mine started a fire due to the wire joiners not being up to the amps which lead to melted insulation which lead to battery shorting when the wires clashed. If you have screwed down the terminals to the battery you are in trouble. My solution was to put in heavy duty cable connectors and a 70amp restable fuse/isolator. I strongly recommend some form of quick disconnect. You need to wash it after use particularly around the prop shaft and transom clamp then spray with WD40. I recommend it, it's worth the money.

Check my 2 engines side by side: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hYfZl3eHh7GDmsk&t Hangkai is already 6 year old. Honestly i did not think this engine wil last me so long, when i got it. I thaught of it as a temporary engine, and here I am 6 years later. I hope my electric trolling motor last just as long. I like that it is quiet. Hangkai is a typical working tool. Gets me fast from A to B, helps set up fishing nets, does the job but it is very loud. The other is my holiday motor for weekend trips and relaxation.

I just got my 56lbs motor with mail. My first BIG disappointment in it was the weight. Why the heck is everyone saying this motor is lightweight??? It weighs twice the weight of my 3.5hp gasoline engine and it is 10 times less power. Include the big heavy battery it is 5-6 times heavier then any engine i can fit on my boat. I don't know what the slowest speed it runs on is.. I hope it is not too fast for trolling. Trolling motor should have slow trolling speed.. Gonna have to wait to test it on the water.. So far only bad thing i noticed is the excessive weight on my boat that i'm gonna have to carry around, and that is a really bad thing about this motor.. Now lets look at the bright side.. This motor is cheap. It uses no fuel. It is very quiet, you won't scare away fish with it. It have adjustable shaft so it will fit all boat types. It have reverse gear, useful for some boats. It turns 360 degree, very useful for fast maneuvers. It looks nice and futuristic. You don't get some old looking motor with everything outside. Would I use it as a reserve motor?? Hell no! it is too heavy, i would rather carry two 3.5 hp engines. I will use it to sneak up on fish and for relax, some close to shore net fishing, holiday. In some waters they won't allow you to use a gasoline engine so i have a motor that can run on these waters too. I guess beside complaining about the excessive weight i had some pretty good things to say about the motor. Have fun while it lasts! It's summer now, perfect for boating.

Jack Fisher hi man, what engine did you buy?! The ones I tested here where like 1/3 the weight of even 2.5 hp gasoline engine! The batteries are indeed what makes the setup heavy. For the rest love no messing around with oil/gasoline and no maintenance 😁👌 let me know when you tested yours 👍

I have my old trusty Hangkai 3.5hp runs like a dream. I had it for many years now. I think it weighs like 5-6kg, and i have 56lbs motor made in Netherlands, haba trading is the distributor i am not sure who manufactures it. And 100AH battery on top of that :D .. Hangkai is the best buy so far, it is just so loud you gotta use hearing protection.. I hate the sound of it.. I think i need to mod it with an air filter or something because it sound like spitfire aircraft. there are 2 videos of my hangkai engine on my channel.. That thing is so light yet it put out so much power.. you gotta try it.. I think its cheaper then electric motor or about the same price. Just remember to take good care of gasoline engines.. They require maintaince and breakin process.. Many people on KZbin complain about hangkai break, but it does not break if you use it right.. It needs gear oil changes, lubrication, cleaning, washing, and stuff like that.. Just like any car or scooter.
@therealjackfisher
@therealjackfisher 6 жыл бұрын
that 56 lbs trolling motor weighs 13.5 kilo XD, put my 20 kg 100AH battery on top of that and we get 33.5 kg. Hangkai weigh almost 7 kilograms without gasoline in the tank. Tank is 1 liter so with full tank it will be around 8 kg. Hangkai is strong enough to pull a 10 year old on waterski or wakeboard :P that is if you sail on small rubber dingy. It makes around 20km/h full speed when attached to a 2.5m rubber diving dingy boat. These small boats weigh around 20-30 kg each so it is like flying with an engine kit around 3.5-4 hp. 6 hp and you can waterski with adults, but then it start to get dangerous.. 6hp engine on a small light boat like that is insane fast.

@kulconcepts8996
@kulconcepts8996 5 жыл бұрын
Double the HP should drain battery more than twice as fast, but it won't. Because double the HP will accelerate any small boat faster but maximum speed will be typically less than 20%, so most people will throttle back. My guess would be 4 kph max (kilometer/hour) for a 30# (pound) motor and 5 kph (~3.5 mph) max for a 60# motor. At continuous top speed motoring, the maximum time to drain would be less than 2 hours with 100 AH battery.
