Do the tools on a credit card multi-tool actually work? It seems like the amount and variety of credit card multi-tools available on the market are endless, but are they actually useful?
Today we take a standard 11 in 1 credit card multi-tool and test every tool and function it offers to see if it is worth carrying around in your wallet. Each tool on the credit card multi-tool is tested to see if it works, is useful, and is easy to use.

I have a suggestion for the use of the can opener. If you do it in a backward motion instead of forward motion it will be much easier. You won’t have to keep punching a new hole every time. By the way great job on the video and I hope your channel grows.

I brought this little device. I keep it in my wallet. This little edc device has got me out of a lot of situations. It's worth the price to carry something like this. I don't always carry my edc backpack which has multiple items for certain situations. In using the device it's best to have a glove on the hand you use so that it's more comfortable to use. Having something is better than having nothing especially when you are in a pinch. Nice video dude.

the can opener has a hook near the blade that catches on the can rim, then you lever the cutting blade into the can and with a rocking motion work around the lid it's not just forced into the lid. To use it as a compass , hang the card from a string in the lanyard hole, you don't have to float it in water.

The lanyard hole is useful. If you need to apply torque, while using 4 position wrench on this card. By using the lanyard you reduce the the risk of injury. You can use the wrenches with out physically touching the multi tool card.

Extremely well done presentation and honest. No needless jibber jabber and I appreciate that. Other channels tend to go on and on and use this as a chance to show off their other EDC tools and the meat of the video gets lost in the confusion. Your focus on the Credit Card Tool was long needed. Everyone has come across one of these at some point, but few have had the chance to see if they do what they are made to do. You covered that perfectly. Thank you. You summed it up well. They don't take up much room and they do what they are supposed to. I have these planted all around in my packs and bags...Just in case. Thank you and look forward to more on your channel.

Thanks for sharing a thorough test of the tool. I think sometimes it's referred to as a multi-function tool, in which perhaps the lanyard hole could be qualified as a function. Also, because of the size and amount of tools in such a small piece of thin steel, one can hardly expect it to work well in most of its functions. Even in large tools, a multi-function tool normally doesn't work as well as a dedicated one.

Oh!. By the way. In using the compass part. You lay the card on a flat surface. Then put water in the center of the opening till it's at the top. Take a small sewing needle that you have magnetized cut it down to size and place it in the center. Now you have a make shift compass. It ain't perfect. But it works.

I carry this at work everyday because it's the only tool that sits in the single card holder stuck to the back of my smart phone. (Something I always have to have on me) Put the end of a 10 in 1 klein (or Milwaukee) screwdriver in your pocket, and you can use the socket section to add torque, and now you have a strong batch of screwdrivers, plus knife, and other tools on you at all times with almost zero added pocket space used.

What Aaron means is you hook it the same way but you move the cutting edge toward the hooks direction then move hook back farther and continue the cut edge again. In the Military it was called a P38 can opener and it folded up. Worked much better than this. Not sure about you but I've never found a wing nut that would fit in that butterfly slot. I think it is suppose to be used with the knife and used as a pair of scissors.. Just my thought.

Exactly. It is partly magnetised I believe. And if you don't have dental floss, and are in a true survival situation, one could always use the blade and harvest something similar. Like a thread off the user's clothing, hair, or fibres from a branch etc

Like others point out, your review is the most useful I've seen on KZbin. You might also review the common keychain tools. That eleven can be expanded. Here are some other uses: (1) The lanyard hole can be used to bend wire. (2) The wing-nut tool can be used to wrap some string as fishing line around the tool. Keep it in place with tape. (3) The mirrored surface is small but still might work for signaling. You might test the range. (4) I've played around with the compass on several of these tools and I'd hate to depend on any of them in an emergency situation. The pointing is too uncertain. It makes more sense to carry an actual compass. Someone should create a compass with a sealed needle that is thin enough to fit in a wallet.

yeah, the compass wont work on a moving river or anything, but this can also be offset i figure by simpllying collecting some water in some kind of vessel, and putting it into a bowl or something and then using it as such. It is useless if you put it in any kind of moving water, but you can still turn that into still water if you have the proper way to do so. But really I find it hard to believe any actual prepper wont have a compass on them, and this is really a last ditch thing.

Brilliant explanation of the credit card sized multitool - I have owned one for many years and never used it at all because I had this silly idea that it may come in handy I have started going camping now and I have placed it back into my wallet (Just in case Lol) This video Is a well presented and helpful documentation - very good

you can bend a small diameter wire with the lanyard hole so it is not completely useless

A t3i is still a really decent camera, even today. I've got a t6i. I've still got a TON to learn, but the key is just to keep practicing! Thanks for watching🙂

The knife edge can actually be used as an axe. When i tried it, it worked MUCH better, when i added a stone for weight.. i was actually able to chop through a 2 inch branch (much to my surprise)

I find the knife part of the card responsible if you hold in a certain way. Pointer finger through the "bottle opener".Thumb laid across the ruler. Small piece of cloth between the saw and my remaining fingers. Cuts good.

Went on vacation just before Christmas and could of used the bottle opener in the hotel room! Instead I used the old door lock trick. You put the bottle cap in the whole the dead bolt slides into.

Mine wasn’t very magnetized so it didn’t show direction very well. I magnetized it above the notch in the direction circle, and then it worked well sitting on a floating piece of foam.

You do not appear to be using the can opener correctly. It works as good as a military P-38 which is very effective.

Knife edge too thick compared to p38 P38 looked more like this Gillette razor blade or that spiral mosquito incense

Some times it won’t work, and sometimes it will work. And when it does work, that’s when you will be appreciative of your little tool. I’d rather have one than not have one.
