I have tested a leftover hoverboard motor for generating electricity. Is it a good option for the task? Probably not. I could barely boot raspberry pi 3 which requires 5v/3A by hand.

As you can see, Raspberry Pi 3 keeps rebooting due to lack of consistent flow of both voltage and amperage. Raspberry Pi in general very strict and unforgiving therefore it requires a very stable flow of energy. In an ideal setup a battery would be powering the Raspberry Pi while the hoverboard motor charging the battery.
