I disagree. Pep plays the false 9 system. Grealish has been played in that false 9 role but without any tangible results. The FA cup game against Liverpool is a perfect example (among other good examples). In that game, particularly in the 1st half, Pep played Grealish as the number 10 (false 9) which clearly did not work out. So, as it happened, at the start of the 2nd half, Pep switched Grealish to the left wing and then Sterling as the false 9 and as a result City were better in the 2nd half. The reason is, Grealish did not drop deep enough to connect with City's midfield. So City were constantly overloaded in the midfield by Liverpool in that 1st half. Also by dropping deep, Grealish would have dragged one of the CBs thus creating space for City wingers or attacking mids to attack. In the 2nd half, Sterling did exactly that and City found spaces to attack. So in Pep's system, I'd prefer Grealish on the wing. You will also have noticed that Grealish' pressing is not an intense as other City forwards. He also does not track back quick enough. These are the 2 key areas he needs to focus on. It's not about just touch and control but also work rate. Grealish reminds me a bit of Mahrez in his first season at City.

It's easy to forget the off-the-charts skill level of some of these guys when all you see them do most of the time is battle other insanely good players for the ball on tv. It's tough for Grealish to stand out when he's among so many other great players at City and other sides.
