You nailed it Kirk! The chosen location of the sensor port is correct for motors with our cylinder head design, equipped with a twin scroll Turbo (any other location will give you ether the identical reading or slightly lower). You may want to use more coiled tubing and a filter of some sort to reduce heat and pressure spikes. Also, try searching the HPtuners forum for information on how to electronically log the "Drive Pressure". Job well done🎉

I've since welded in a fitting that's rock solid. Sometime this week, I'll redo the test and get better results without worrying about launching a brass fitting through the hood.

Be careful with speed, some fun is safe only in a controlled environment or when literally everyone will keep their distance.

Hmm.. tapping into that spot might only show pressure from two cylinders since the headifold splits the exhaust into two ports for the twin scroll...

Pressure should be the same. The only variable would be flow, which I'm not measuring. Other than on the volute somewhere, I can't think of a good place to tap into to get both sides of the housing.

So I may not be correct about that. Both sides can have different back pressure do to the length the exhaust has to travel. The inner two cylinders should have a lower back pressure than the outer.

Have you considered an aftermarket turbo. I got the bnr 600. Things a beast and sounds great.

I may consider a bigger turbo eventually. But you know me, it won't be any of the usual options and it will likely come from eBay 😆

You should have gotten a cobb accesport. It also measures back pressure lol. It’s expensive but extremely useful. Your program should also measure back pressure on data logs

I can measure back pressure and the pressure ratio with HP Tuners. The problem with that and most likely the Cobb accessport is its only guessing the back pressure based on algorithms. It never truly knows because there isn't a sensor in the exhaust that can read pressure. It's probably mostly accurate when the car is bone stock and stock calibration, but once any of the parameters change with airflow, it throws everything off. Have a gauge or a dedicated pressure sensor installed is the only way to accurately know.

@@KarzKreated when you figure out your back pressure we can compare to mine. I think mine is 13psi exhaust backpressure on accessport. Which makes sense since it matches up with the 1 to 2 exhaust back pressure to turbo boost psi. 13psi / 27psi

I also run the Precision 11910 (NX/NX2) Turbocharger and feel it's probably the best fit for my 2018 ecoboost motor. However, with your built short block and camshafts... you should have more options than most of us. But if you're on a tight budget or just want to do something different, you may want to research "port and polishing the oem ecoboost turbo". 6:40 There are currently a couple of guys (Greg @ EuroCompulsion is one of them) experimenting with the base oem unit, and with your HPP unit, you should have more potential.

I would be lying if I didn't mention my full intention is to port the hpp turbo. That's why I want to get back pressure readings now before I port it. 🙂
