Thank you for the real life test! Was literally split between the $200+ Lang Tools kit (same as Matco) and the Mityvac, your video helped me save some money!

You’re welcome! Glad it helped you save a few bucks.

Thank you for a great video! I have a similar compression test kit but it has the Craftsman brand on it. I have compared testers myself before and found they all max out at the same reading doing 4-8 pulls.

Thank you so much for the kind words and for watching! Yeah I'm really glad I did this for peace of mind. I have one more way I found to check the gauge as well and I'll post a short video on that at some point in the future in case people don't have access to another high end one like this. I got lucky lol.

It's probably the internal volume of the adaptor assembly.

thanks for sharing the info. Is there a compression test values table? I have an old scooter with a 200cc engine with no information was found on how much should read the compression

That I do not know about but perhaps googling your Model or asking the manufacturer for specs would be the best bet.

I just bought a snap on compression test set, and I tested like 10 saws, and they all read between 110 and 120 psi, and i know they have good compression so im wondering if theres a difference between automotive gauges and small engine gauges. on matcos site it says "tests most gas engines to include small engines" and snap on just says "for cars and trucks with gas engines." I have a cheap one i bought from the auto parts store, but it wont read over 80 psi. im kinda bummed bc the snap on one was 325 dollars and i only bought it bc i thought it was gonna be the most accurate

I’m not sure and I’m definitely not well versed in other brands of these. From a quick google search I see to make sure you’ve got a Schrader type valve on it. I know both of the ones I tested had that. I also see that sometimes snap on will read low on small engines !

@@mainelysmallengineDIY The $20 eBay ones are complete junk. I can't get them to read anything other than 60 PSI on new Husky's, used Husky's car engines or my shop compressor set to 130PSI. The only compression testers that are accurate screw in like a spark plug and have no extension leads and snap in connectors. Your 150PSI test with the USA made tester would be around stock spec for any Husky that runs well.

Did you make sure the Schrader valve is properly inserted and working in the mighty vac hose? That could explain your issue.

I didn’t but I’ll check it out for sure. It was brand new but that only means so much.

How would you test that? The dial isn't going down, which means the valve is holding air.

Id of hose is larger on the mityvac.

ID of the hose won't matter since it is a dead headed setup.

Don’t go cheap and get a Harbor Freight. Difference of 60 psi between harbor freight and one I rented from Auto Zone. I will be getting a new one soon.

I pull the choke, and pull until it won't go up anymore.

Yeah that seems to be the way to do it! Thanks for the input!
