Testing NIO Pilot on German Autobahn

Giving NIO's version of basic autopilot a run through on the German Autobahn. Max speed of autopilot is 180km/h, compared with 130 or 140 in China (can't remember)... also this maintains speed much better than my old EC6 did on slight turns, but fails to maintain its lane in poorly marked areas as well as my EC6 did. So we take the good and the bad and just give you a looksie.

I'm impressed! Going 170 with autopilot in winter without getting yelled at, or sweating on your on palm, or noise in the background. This car is one of the best EVs for sure!

Some may not know this but defrost is really for defrosting. It does help if you have fogged up windows but I never use it while driving since its too hot and too noisy. I instead keep AC on AT ALL TIMES so that the air is being dried by the AC before its being heated and then blown into the cabin. This is how I maintain fog free windows throughout the year, even at -10C and with three passengers onboard.

Turned off the air because of the microphone, don’t want interference or wind with it, but yea I usually just keep the air on too.

Swap stations make no sense as they cost a fortune to build while at the same time 800v cars already charge at 15 minutes. A battery swap including waiting times will give you 8-10 minutes. The charging stations are relatively cheap and thousands are everywhere already. A swapping station looses its benefits when it’s only a 5 minute difference

Not that expensive. Didn’t buy it just subscribed to it. I invested most of my income for the past 20 years, chose not to have kids, chose not to own a home, don’t have expensive taste like jewelry clothes food etc.
