This is commercial HVAC standard installation basics. Hopefully a good PM contract is sold with installation to keep systems clean and working correctly.

I know you have decent filters plus the ERV but how do you access the evap. coil and blower section for maintenance/service?
@billj48594 жыл бұрын
In the area I work in we don't see systems like this. While I like the specs on it I don't like it at all from a serviceability standpoint. The undercut doors lead to carpet filtration. Is that basically an insulated door covering the indoor coil?
@neilcomparetto52824 жыл бұрын
bill j the combination of leak-free ducts, great filtration, and blower on the warm side keeps the AHU very clean... There is no carpet in this house so that not an issue- I hear you though.

Quick question, the DG 700 manometer calculates and displays the actual CFM duct leakage, why was he using his phone to find the result of the test?
@dennistreacy21604 жыл бұрын
I still think using hard pipe on straight runs is easier, than pulling flex tight. This is probably from running hard pipe for the last 25 years. We use flex duct only to pull over the hard pipe to speed insulating the duct.
@neilcomparetto52824 жыл бұрын
Dennis Treacy 10’ and under yes. Above 10’ I think flex is faster.

Does the Rheem heat pump circulate air from the mechanical room to the crawlspace and then back using a sealed crawlspace? Is the house in this same air space or is the mechanical room sealed separate from the house?
@johnsemmelhack62944 жыл бұрын
The heat pump water heater discharge air is sent to the sealed, conditioned crawlspace. A transfer grill in the floor brings mixed air back up to the house.

I am buying a Rheem heat pump water heater, I was thinking of taking its intake air from a conditioned attic as it is always a bit warmer up there than in the living space. Would there be any advantage to that? I figured it would be easier for the heat pump to transfer heat if the incoming air is warm to begin with.
@neilcomparetto52824 жыл бұрын
John Salazar sure, warmer air will help with the performance of the water heater. Depending on how difficult that is the juice may not be worth the squeeze 🤷🏻♂️.

@@neilcomparetto5282 We are rebuilding after a fire. Going from natural gas to a mini split, so we have a flue going from basement to attic that is not going to be used. Since the path is already there should be pretty straightforward?

@@thebigdoghimself what else is in your mechanical room? What region do you live in? Alot of time we spec a heat pump water heater to lower the dew point in a mechanical room or basement.

@@dunkdamonk We are in The Chicago suburbs. There will be either 2 LG red or 2 Mitsu air handlers in there. There will be an electronics rack that generates some heat however as a whole the basement is cold. We are installing a radon mitigation system and I have been told that since it is pilling air from under the slab it has a side effect of removing a lot of humidity from the basement.
