That’s not true. I never prepare the cup noodle like how others did bc i like mine cooked with hot water like the one in a packet. But the taste is very much different. It’s obviously less spicy and the flavor is not as good as the packet one.

one of my favorite local noodles in my country both have cup and pillow pack version. the cup version is just super bland and noodles just doesnt hit the spot unlike the pillow pack even if do the cooking in water method.

yes absolutely. i was hooked on the shin cups. when i first tried the pack, i was taken aback by how much deeper the flavour is. it is also slightly spicier and the serving is much larger. it's been about 3 years now and i am still obsessed with it. i have it once a fortnight, if i can control myself LOL. the cup tastes so much blander in comparison, and the noodle texture is worse. the customisation options for packet ramyun are also amazing. i loooove adding eggs, cheese, extra veggies and spring onion. it elevates the meal so much, and makes plenty of combinations so i never get bored 🔥

For me, what I do after soaking the cup and bowl ones in the boiling water is microwave them so they're not as hard. It makes them somewhat similar to the packet ones.

Obviously not everyone has access to a microwave but for people who do I’m always surprised that they don’t use the microwave it’s far superior to just using hot water. But ofc if you have the time, energy, and available resources I would highly recommend the stove for cooking.

Personally I prefer the cups, they’re more soupy and sweeter. Well the other ones have a thicker consistency (that I grew bored of)

Because the cup ones need to cook with boiling water poured in and not continuously boiling water they are made to cook faster. Thats why the texture differ.

You should try buldak tobuki it’s actually very good except I would suggest probably using 1/3 of string cheese and trying to melt that in best you can it gives it a really unique flavor and I love it

It's also the batch they are manufactured in. Because I have bought lots of pillow packs (the set of 5), and each time there is a slight difference. Sometimes the noodles are more chewy, sometimes soggy, like they just melt in your mouth. And sometimes the sauce is also less or more spicy. So yeah, that could also be a case!

I’ve always noticed a different between the cups and pillow pack from almost every ramen brand. I always but the pillow packs for home use the only time I ever buy cups is if I driving hours or I’m out and about but usually that happens like once a year. The pillow packs are superior.

If you prepared all three on the stovetop you would notice the sauce thicken up just the same on all three. Noodle texture would also be much more consistent across the three …

in my country i usually buy just basic one . since those in cups or bowl cost almost 2x more with ois crazy. normal one cost maybe 2,70-3 euro but those in cups cost 3,,80 . with is crazy . if not that i would buy way more of those . even few days ago i bought cheaper one noodles. 1x shin ramen and 4 buldak and paid like 14-15 euros

I’ve only tried the og for the cups but the cups over the packets for the og, they taste so good. The cups aren’t as spicy and bitter so I can actually taste the flavour. If the packs tasted like the cups I would eat them everday

So fun fact since I'm allergic to sesame I have to check the ingredients lists and it turns that the bigger packs don't have sesame but the cup ones do have sesame! I have checked with many different brands. Guess I don't get the convenience 😞
