Did you try facing the part you put the wood in towards the wind when it was super windy?

I don't remember. I just remember it being chaos with that much wind. It was really windy.

You have to have the feed chute pointed into the wind.

The problem with these stoves is they allow too much air flow in the bottom, the riser is not tall enough for the size of the burn chamber, and the entire thing is not insulated well enough. It's a cool little stove and effective for cooking, but it doesn't meet most of the commonly accepted criterion for actually being a "rocket" stove. This is pretty evident in the fact that a windy day kept it from operating properly.

You're not wrong at all, mate! It was interesting to test it out but it's not going to be my first (or second) option for cooking at the campsite.

@@MikeTrachtenberg- I've built a couple of rocket stoves out of fire brick and they get crazy hot! With the right dimensions and a riser that is warmed up, no amount of wind is going to keep one from drafting properly. True rocket stoves, and masonry heaters, are phenomenally efficient at turning wood into BTU's for either cooking or heating. Very fun stuff! :)

You need to put the stove the other way so the air feeds the other entrance and your flame grows 😅it’s common sense

That is a real great way of cooking something small. That wind looked tough to cook with.

Yeah, is a good one burner stove. Very sturdy though
