I have bad bad memories associated with RUSH.. I was 12 and my best friend's brother didn't tell me what it was or what it did- he just said, here smell this perfume. I was young, naive (back when I trusted people.. ohh the 90's) and he held it under my nose and I INHALED. I dropped down to my knees and I felt the whole room close in around me.. my head was banging.. everyone was laughing at me.. their laughs felt like hammers in my head.. it was a terrible experience for me. I was embarrassed and never wanted to do it again. I was always made fun of for not wanting to do drugs, or drink.. and I think this was some sick way to see me "relax" but it made me feel sick. Granted yes, I was 12.. but this man was like 30 and should have known better. He was also a cop and used to steal drugs from the station and was a drug addict. I don't know what he was thinking. He was such an asshole. He died a little while later and I certainly didn't shed any tears.

There are a lot of young people that watch Willam and might not have the common sense to think that he's a grown man old enough to make this choice of his own and also I believe he said he tried poppers for the first time when he was 25 years old. So I think it's very important that you have mentioned that there is a negative side and with all drugs they work well and enhance and experience for some and for others the effect can be very unpleasant. I'm sorry that you were taken advantage of by an adult male this happened to me many times when I was young so I certainly understand and I'm terribly sorry that the effect of this has stayed with you for so long. Just share it whenever you get the opportunity and if it helps anybody then at least someone will benefit from your tragedy. Take care sweetheart it takes courage to tell a story like this.

So please go easy... 2 or 3 hits... Never let the liquid get on your skin.. rinse with cool water immediately... Always wipe the rim of the bottle with a tissue before putting near your nose... Once the bottle is nearly empty toss it.. that's when it's the worst for you... just get a new bottle... might be pricey but not worth your life...

True - occasional use is pretty harmless, but regular use for extended periods looks like anemia. If you imbibe often it's good to have a blood oxygen meter. Once in a while, my blood oxygen was still a normal 99%. Using often, I've seen it go down to about 80%! One time I had an accident and needed to be picked up in an ambulance, and I remember the EMT freaking out over my unnaturally low blood oxygen level. What complicates things is that if you don't use your poppers, they start to quickly lose their strength, especially if warm. So it's tempting to keep using them when they are fresh.

I’m a 53 years old Irish gay man in the U.K. 21 years and I’ve tried “poppers” many times since my teens in the 1980’s in the bath-houses in both Ireland (Dublin) and the U.K. (Manchester) - over the years, all poppers brands have got ever weaker (even allowing for the body’s tolerance levels) and even the newly opened and correctly stored “stronger” versions from reputable stores and online suppliers, even from first opening, have become ever weaker, regardless of price and where they are bought and used - I’d considered buying Double Scorpio then I discovered that there was fake versions of this - poppers are sold in corner shops and other markets around Manchester and in Ireland but even though they are sold for much cheaper prices now, the product quality and level of high compared to the 1980’s is very poor, you hardly feel anything at all now, total waste of money - I’d rather look for alternatives to poppers at this stage, like Spanish Fly or Viagra instead, but I’m certainly not doing Meth or anything illegal

Do not ask for poppers when you buy them. It's elegal for places to sell them as "Poppers". Ask for contact cleaner or ask for them by brand name.

True, many places won't sell them if you call them that. But ironically, why they were called poppers was that they used to be sold in a glass ampule that you had to pop to release them. So modern amyl/alkyl nitrites in bottles technically aren't poppers anymore.

In the 8th grade me and my friend found poppers in my moms bathroom. We didn’t know what it was but we inhaled it anyway and obviously liked it so we stole it. Any time you breathe something other than air or properly mixed oxygen, you basically starve your brain and body of oxygen temporarily. Doing it often can cause brain cell or tissue death and accidental suffocation is a possibility, although that is pretty slim without some underlying medical condition or mixing drugs.
