Taras Kul's MRE videos show that some armies of the world have adopted a, "partial" MRE. The field ration comes in an MRE-like plastic polymer bag. But the contents show a mix of MRE-type items and off-the-shelf canned food items. This greatly reduces costs for smaller armies on a tight military budget.
