i own one, most of my tools are Makita but always liked the look of the De walt jigsaw. You can feel the quality when you pick it up, the ergonomics are spot on. One of the most enjoyable tools to use that i own. Your right about cordless, they are great for when you need remote/onsite use but I've found most Jigsawing is bench use or close to power. good vid, greetings from New Zealand.

I brought this jigsaw home today based on it’s reviews and the other Dewalt power tools I own. I’ve never used a jigsaw before and have several projects I plan to use it for. I found the enclosed “instruction leaflet” sorely lacking in information, especially for a novice user. I searched and found your video and have to thank you for the great practical demonstration. I feel much more comfortable using the saw after seeing your various blade testings and how you handle the saw. Many Thanks!

Totally agree about corded tools, I've got a dewalt sawsal from somwwhere around 1997 and no issues at all but my 18v impact wrench from litteraly just a few years ago has dying batteries and the 18v platform that it uses is just about obsolete now. Also I just picked up this jigsaw and very happy! Great review 👍

Great video! I’m seriously considering buying this model. My 40 year old Craftsman just died. BTW the reverse tooth blades are mainly used for cutting laminates (formica). You have to bear down on the saw with constant pressure to prevent jumping.

Very helpful video. It saved my old eyes from having to read the small print of the manual, too, after I bought the saw. BTW I agree with your assessment of the quality -- and about battery technology. Also, there's a "This Old House" video that provides some good information about the settings on a jigsaw.

Excellent excellent review! Thank you. Years ago I bought what was the top of the line jigsaw (Bosch) and it still works perfect. I was shocked to see all of the new features that mine lacks. The one that really caught my attention was the 'air blower'. I can't tell you how tired I get of leaning over and blowing on the cutting line so I can see where I am going. That alonge might be enough to get me to upgrade. I can't be the only person that thought this...you have a saw mill but didn't have a jigsaw?? lol..maybe I've been collecting my tools is the wrong order. Start with the big and work my way down :) Thanks again

I love Dewalt tools however I really like the hard cases that come with the tools too. They have started to go with these bag/soft cases which are junk. Hard cases keep me buying more tools. Wish they would offer the option of hard cases with every tool

DeWalt makes great tools that last i have owned a 1/2inch reversible drill for over 20 years and its still my powerhouse go to tool for tons of project. Its my screw gun impact driver oh yeah it can be used as a drill also. Lol great review i rarely have need for a jig saw so i just keep a cheapy laying around. Nice info on blade diversity that was great information to the average diy'er.

Question my dewalt jig saw DW331 came with a small piece of clear plastic. It has a triangular tip. Looks like it May go on the bottom plate as a saw cut guide. No instructions on how this piece gets installed. Can you help me out thanks. You made such a great informative video..thanks

Somehow all of my corded tools are DeWalt including my gas generator and I love them. I have to disagree about the battery tools though. I recently bought a set of 18v Milwaukee hand tools and I'm very impressed with how well the batteries work. They are expensive for sure but they often have special sales where extra batteries are included. That saw looks like it'll last for a long time!

Northwest Sawyer I agree, I’ve got a Milwaukee 12a drill that’s 8 or 10 years old and it’s still going strong. I just worry what’ll happen when the batteries aren’t available...and battery cost is rough! They are mega convenient though. I like simple things I guess.

I'm just now investigating jigsaws and I read that blades that cut on the up stroke pull the saw down onto the surface of the wood, whereas blades that cut on the down stroke lift the saw from the surface. I think that was your trouble. Good video.
@danielmount6928
@danielmount6928 5 жыл бұрын
When you are cutting the wood on the upward cut you will not use but at the bottom of the cut, you will use as a finished woodcut that you will use. In other words, use the opposite side of the wood as you finished cut.

That rubber stuff on the handles deteriorates over time and gets really sticky to the touch. Eventually, what happens is the rubber coating begins to attract dust and dirt making the tool visual aesthetics ugly as heck.... I had a suitcase covered with that rubber coating and ended up having to use baking soda and a soft scouring pad to remove the rubber coating.

A normal upward cutting blade pulls the jigsaw down as it cuts. A downward cutting blade is going to push away. That's why you feel the kick. You have to physically hold the blade against the wood much more forcefully.

From your comments regarding why you purchased this tool, I must suggest that you familiarize yourself with the low cost oscillating tools now available. See links to follow: Harbor Freight www.harborfreight.com/power-tools/oscillating-tools.html and similar tool from Amazon www.amazon.com/Chicago-Pneumatics-68303-Oscillating-Multifunction/dp/B0085GEJ7Q I bought the corded Chicago Pneumatic tool from Harbor Freight and have used it for nearly 5 years. Solid construction, reliable service and I’m sure glad I bought it. Nothing like it for Sheetrock and Trim work. Plunge cuts like a champ. Variety of blades available, works best on wood, Sheetrock, PVC, etc. Current Harbor Freight price for kit is $37.99, with a basic tool for less than $20.00. I like the more expensive model for the variable speed feature. The Bi-Metal blades can cut some metals, but struggle doing so. Better to use another tool if possible. However, once you see how this tool can plunge cut and make trim fit easily, you’ll be happy with it. Since I am a tool junky, and wanted a cordless model, I did buy the Milwaukee 2426-20 and am very happy with it. Since I already had the rest of the 12 volt tools and the blades from the Chicago Pneumatic fit it, I was good to go with the basic tool. Home Depot sells a ton of Milwaukee tools, so often times they have the best prices when you catch one of their sale days.

you are not doing anything wrong with the reverse blade. there is a REASON why most blades are set the other way. It is because the reverse blades do a kickback.
